Paramount Pictures presents the Academy Award and Golden Globe winning musical Dreamgirls, a glittering tale based on the early 1980’s Broadway musical.
It’s the 1960s and singers Effie (Jennifer Hudson), Deena (Beyonce Knowles) and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose) are about to have their wildest dreams come true. Discovered at a talent show by ambitious manager Curtis Taylor (Jamie Foxx), “The Dreamettes” are offered a singing stint supporting the legendary James “Thunder” Early (Eddie Murphy).
Subsequently moulded into an inescapable hit machine by Taylor and propelled into the spotlight as “the Dreams”, the girls quickly find their desire for fame taking priority over their friendship, especially as ultra-talented Effie is edged out so that the beautiful Deena can become the face of the group.
The Dreamgirls Showstopper two-disc DVD, features a wealth of thrilling bonus material including a feature-length documentary entitled “Building the Dream” presented in nine chapters as well a variety of behind-the-scenes featurettes.
