Just had OR face-to-face meeting+ my Outgoings-for interest!

Hello all,
Had my OR face-to-face meeting (involved house being surrendered & multiple unsecured/a mortgage shortfall & IR & NI tax debts).
The whole meeting lasted 3 hours. The OR was very friendly, whist obviously asking detailed questions about how I got myself in this situation, etc... I made sure I bought ALL the things I could re: income, etc....as I know they have a huge workload.
I went through everything in detail (including my fathers death-which when looking at the dates a lot of the debts were during me 'losing the plot' a bit for 2 years) & finaly signed the 'version of events' the OR had written down.
He said that they have no cause at all for further enquiries & it all seemed quite clear & that he would reccomend an early discharge. I had assumed as my tax liability/ni liability goes back 9 years (I did explain that a friend had told me when I started that I had 3 years before I had to file a tax return-wrong advice as we kniw but by that time I was burying my head in the sand-this is exactly what I told the OR-the intention being last year to re-mortgage to clear all & make full/final offers to unsecured creditors but valuation was £25/£30k too low!!) I would be hauled over the coals & a BRO would be given-not so I'm glad to say.
His parting words we're 'good luck for the future!'. Seems that honesty, providing all stuff needed/paperwork/figures to help the OR does seem to help matters greatly-I also would rather have face-to-face than a phone interview.
Ok...my outgoings. I am single, will be renting a room in a 2 bedroomed flat-these are my outgoings. The onlything mentioned was 'misc personal expenses'-the OR asked about these & I said I'd had CAB advice to put this in-he just laughed & said 'I knew you'd say that!' Also my health costs-I explained this was for herbal tablets that...ahem...help with gout (! ashamed to say I have suffered but celery seed tablets/nettle tea & querticin not only help the liver/lower blood pressure but you never get gout again!)-no further issue made of it. Outgoings below;-
£350 PCM RENT-TO INCLUDE ALL BILLS/C/TAX (EXCEPT TEL LINE RENTA/TV LICENCE)
HOUSEKEEPING/FOOD-£235 PCM
TELEPHONE LINE RENTAL-£15PCM (MY WORK PAYS CALL COSTS)
TRAVELLING TO/FROM WORK & OTHER ESSENTIAL JOURNEYS-£170 (put an* & explained the £170 included saving towards car tax, insurance, car breakdown cover, servicing, MOT, repairs & diesel-I work from home but do go 'on the road' to drum up business-car exempt as too old-worth under £400-BUT used for work)
CLOTHING-£35PCM
MAINTENANCE PAYMENTS & FINES-£90 PCM (2 sets unfortunately of parking fines)
OTHER ESSENTIAL PAYMENTS-£209 PCM (broken down as, misc.personal expenses-£50, tv licence-£12, Health costs-£25, repairs & maintenance-£25, hair-cut-£10, Meals at work (ie sandwiches/fish & chips when working)-£54, House insurance-£13).
TOTAL OUTGOINGS-£1104.
No IPA as earnings less than this.
Hope this helps-the OR is NOT a monster-my one was very friendly & chatty-whist asking the right questions!

The OR only really starts to become unreasonable if (s)he thinks you're trying to pull the wool over their eyes.0

I think that's the worry though Conor - a lot of us are beating ourselves up over what has happened and can't see how it is all above board and 'good' and therefore expect the OR to throw the book at us. Which is silly if you think about it, coz would you go BR if things haven't gone wrong - who sits there at 15 and says ' one day, I'm going to go BR, that will be nice' and then works towards it as a goal?
Thank you DebtMonkey - very very very helpful and heartening to hear all that. Makes me want to get it done even more quickly now (anyone got a spare £350 to lend me for the fees? Pay you back, 'onest guvJOKING!!!!)
Do not feed the trolls please.0 -
I'm sure the experts will be along shortly, but £235 a month housekeeping/food does seem to be an awful lot for someone who is single.0

Mushy - DebtMonkey's had the OR interview and was allowed the £235 amount......Do not feed the trolls please.0

Hi Mushy,
Yes-it IS a lot but I had advice from wwwdebthelpuk at the 'ask the expert' section (he's qualified money advisor & he said these figures would be allowed).
The OR did not even query this ammount.0 -
Thats really useful DM.
I'll be looking at your figures when i get round to compelting the bits of my forms that i put off today for a rainy day..then again everdays a rainy day at the moThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0
