Pasta from Italy for 30% less than @ Tesco

Hello,

if you are like us and get through a lot of pasta in a week, then check out https://www.dececco.com - the average 500g pack of Linguine or Penne costs 1 euro which depending on exchange equals about 70p. At Tesco this costs 1.09 pounds.

There is a catch: you need to order 50kg (equals 100 packages) to qualify for free delivery. But check out their site, they have pasta shapes that you (and your children) have never heard of, complete with menu recommendations. The sell-by date for most stuff is in 2007 if not 8, the wholemeal pasta is end of 06, so be careful with that.

Check out the risotto rice as well, I get the Carnaroli at 3.43 euros a kg - not cheap but great rice.

The order process is slightly bizarre for someone without Italian language skills as you get an email with the subject evasione ordine, which means that they have dispatched. Other than that, it is straightforward - I have done it twice and it is quite good fun to unpack the 50kgs and put everything on a table...

Cheers,

Fred :xmassmile

My 83 kg order turned up in 8 boxes by TNT courier today , including free shipping!

83 kg not all for me, "combined order" to share with several friends.

Once I figured out the eccentricities of some of the de Cecco website being only in Italian, the ordering process worked perfectly.

The wonders of the internet, how "de Cecco" can afford to send tinned tomatoes by courier from Italy will have to remain one of life's mysteries.

Now I am off to find new pasta recipes!!
