My elderly father needs a tumble drier and, as he has sealed secondary double glazing all round, it will need to be one of the condensing type.

I just got the Zanussi TCE7124W from Currys.co.uk.
Free delivery, 10% off using the code AFF10PC.
Also, 1% cashback from Greasypalm.
Not bad, worked out at £230 all in.
In store price is £329.95, so quite a saving.

I do not think condensing dryers are very efficient.
Cannot he not open a window in the kitchen or somewhere, all you then need is a cheap tumble dryer and hang the hose out of the window.0 -
We've had hotpoint ultima tc72 for a number of years now .... it's used every day and so far, we've never had any problems with it.0

We have a Bosch which is also pumped, therefore it can empty the water into a container or straight down a drain.0

AEG lavatherm
Has a tank to collect the water.
The man who came to repair our Hotpoint for the 11th time recommended it.0 -
I would reccomedd any Hotpoint with 5 year parts cover.
Other points to consider for these:
You need to make sure they have plenty of room around them when they are working
Also dont open the door when they are hot0 -
I have had a Zanussi TC - 481 W for several years.
No problems, it works well.

I used to have one and I think they are excellent, especially for elderly or those with little time.
But, I would say make sure he can put the machine somewhere where it's convenient for him to empty the water container (need to do this each time it's used). Also consider where the water drawer is. Mine was dead easy, a long 6" square tube on the front of the machine at the top . My MIL's on the other hand is a 2 foot wide flat container that pulls out from right at the bottom of the machine - not the best thing for the elderly really.
Also, depends on his circumstances but I think the sensor condensor driers are well worth the extra money. Basically, you put the load in and the machine will turn off when it is dry. Becuase they are dearer to buy anyway ,most of these machines will also include a final 15mins cool cycle to prevent clothes creasing in the drum, and many also include reverse tumble which means the clothes don;t got so tangled up. This all helps to make the whole thing easier. It also means no forgetting clothes that get shrunk or get permanently embedded creases, and less wasted electricity.
I guess there is more to go wrong but mine was fine for about 8 yrs when the belt went and unfortunately, when DH took it apart to replace the belt he must have accidently done something else to it so it wouldn't work when he put it back together again ??? Towards the end of this time I think the automatic sensor was not working quite so well so the clothes were no quite bone dry when the machine stopped, I just used to roll it on again and they would be dry by the time the sensor next decided the load was done!0 -

Are these 3 suggestions for the Hotpoint or the AEG?0 -
I got this White Knight model from LX Direct when the codes were around.....saved 25% plus free delivery and they took away my old one. It is v v easy to use and the water canister is at the top and easy to empty. Highly recommend the machine but the service from LX was only redeemed by the fact that I got it so cheap! The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0
