I'm having a crack at this:

Recipe includes 6 eggs, and in step 3 says:
Would that be the whole egg? Or just the whites or yokes? I presume its the whole egg? Minus the shell of course!

Meanwhile, beat the eggs with the muscovado and caster sugar until pale and doubled in volume.

Yes, that's right, the whole egg.
It does look yummy, and a flourless cake too. :cool:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Thankyou!
I'm up to the ban marie stage, with the chocolate, sugar and butter only it tastes foul! I'm hoping things will improve later!
On to the eggs now, so thanks again!SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0 -

Where do you buy the cacao from? Did it turn out nice?0

Where do you buy the cacao from? Did it turn out nice?
I got the cacao from Waitrose, costs a bummin fortune! £5.99 a pop and you need two of the blighters, so this cake is costing me about £15 all told. Also it looks as though I've blown it, have a look at the truffle topping I made that your supposed to put on it:
The cake itself looks ok, although the stick I stuck into it didn't come out clean. I popped it back in the oven for a couple of minutes, but took it out again as maybe its supposed to be a bit wet in the middle?
I've not put the topping (not sure I should now given its greasy appearance) on or tasted it yet, but will let you know what its like.
I think I'll stick to cheese cakes next time, cheaper, easier and probably just as nice.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0 -
BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!
I've tried it with and without the topping on and have to say its not great. I dont like the texture and I dont like the taste, and I'm a big pudding fan. I'm going to try it again later when its been properly cooled, but so far its very disappointing. I'd give it 2 stars! If its not any better after the fridge treatment it'll either go in the bin, or I'll send it to work with the wife tomorrow.

Oh crikey, I wish I'd seen this post yesterday! I tried this cake a while ago and like you , I used the Willie chocolate but the whole cake split
When I tested it in the oven it looked fine but when I turned it out all the eggs had gone onto the bottom and it was like scrambled egg
I still have no idea why it split! I bake ALL the time by the way so it's not as if I am a novice cake maker but this recipe just didn't work....so it went in the bin I'm afraid - I just couldn't redeem it at all!
A very expensive mistake.....Penny0 -
Try this? I've done it loads of times, it's lovely. Nobody knows.
