Hair clippers

Options
Every time it gets to the stage where I need a haircut, I tell myself that I'm going to buy a pair of clippers rather than visiting the hairdresser. Yet, each time I end up chickening out and doing the latter, and paying over £10 for the privilege of having a number 4. Hopefully with your help, I won't be doing this again :).

Can anyone recommend a decent, but not amazing, pair of clippers? I have mid length hair at the moment, and tend to wait for it to grow before chopping it all back, to save on the cost of having it cut. Usually, I have a number 4 on top, tapering down to a number 2 at the bottom of the back and sides, so I'd be looking to acheive something similar at home. I have a separate trimmer for my sideburns at the moment.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? I wouldn't really want to spend more than £30, unless doing so would get me something far superior that would make it worth the expenditure.

All thoughts welcome. Thanks in advance :).

    Hello!

My BF has been cutting his own hair for years and loves his Wahl clippers (used by barbers and top salons). He's tried other brands but reckons they just don't compare.
Argos stocks the set he uses:

  • hi :D

i second goanmad - the wahl clippers r by far the best and dont break the bank lol. i know argos is probably more convenient however sally's (salon services) were selling them for around £10-15 so if you have one near you then maybe try there first??

definately more MSE to cut your own hair :D
money cant buy you love....why cant i have both???
currently watching my weight go down....59.5 lbs so far :j
  • YAY for cliipers - these must have been the very most MSE thing I have ever done - I bought some made by 'Melissa' from Netto almost 10 years ago for the princeley sum of just £5 and they are still going strong!
  • Excellent - thank you for the tips. Those Wahl clippers are even cheaper on Amazon (can't post a link yet, but they're £20.75), so I think a purchase is in order :).
