evening all!
I have heard so many good things about these deliveries, and i think it would suit my family to a "t". But i can't find any that are local to me and not so expensive i can't buy any other food!
i live in east london/essex area and ideally wanting to spend no more than about £20 - 30 a week for both - do - able or daft?
thanks

Theres a good list of veg box companies here http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/system/topicRoot/Organic_Box/
Its from the times website so its a bit selective.
I use Abel and Cole - which isn't really local, but does let me be highly selective. Theres a thread on here about Riverford which seems pretty positive. I think cost wise it will probably depend on how much meat you want, since that tends to be the expensive part. I can't be v. helpful since i live on my own and its difficult to work out how much you need to scale up. For me a ten pound mixed box does all my fruit and veg and i occasionally buy cheaper bits of meat on top of that, but tend to use the local butchers instead since its a bit cheaper and i can get smaller quantities.April Grocery Challenge: £250/£127.530 -

These all sounds really good - but expensive. Shame because they sound great - may give it a go as a pay day treat,0

My guess would be you'd need a slightly larger box than the small one I order, a standard mixed box is £15 a week from Abel and Cole (You can probably find cheaper boxes elsewhere I just have them on my favourites).
That would give you between £5 and £15 a week for meat. Not much if you fancy roast chicken, but if you stuck to cheaper bits like chicken thighs, pork belly and mince you could probably do it.
Riverford do a fortnightly meat box which is around £50 for 4.6 kg - which seems like an awful lot of meat to me.April Grocery Challenge: £250/£127.530 -

Times online page on meat boxes - Well hung meat seems to have the best coverage. The link i gave earlier has a few schemes in Essex. I think River Nene deliver there www.rivernene.co.uk as well.April Grocery Challenge: £250/£127.530
