Belly pork in the Slow Cooker

Options
I promise I DID look at the collection first!

Belly pork is a great favourite in this house (usually cooked in with red cabbage and apple) and eaten with gusto. Is there any way of doing this in the slow cooker? I suppose just the same way as other meat.. add vegetables, some water/stock and let burble away for the working day??

Can I do this, and if so, how?! Bit of a novice when it comes to cooking really, so id normally put it in the oven, but I find its a bit tough if I do it this way!

    Thanks!

I guess you could but it's not something I'd want to do as surely you'd end up with soggy skin (I love crackling! ) and it would be sat in a puddle of grease from the fat melting out of it?

I love belly pork and cook it "slow and low" in the oven, about 1.5 - 2 hours on low heat 150C then turn it up to 190C for another 30-40 mins to crisp up the crackling.

    HI

I bought a piece of pork belly today (whoopsied very MSE!) I've had a look on how to cook this in the slow cooker, some say best to cook it in the oven. I'm really keen to experiment on the slow cooker, any ideas? Do I just add some water and veg?

    Thanks in advance x

  • Prob a little bit late now but i just put the joint in slow cooker, fill about 1/4 of the way with water, herbs, oxos, seasonings etc and leave on low either over night or from about 8 til 5 and it just falls apart. I do take the skin off after and bung it in high oven to get crackling x
