Mosquitos + Avon  skin-so-soft

Options
Does anyone know if Avon skin-so-soft is as effective against mosquitos as it is against midges , I've got a holiday booked to an area that can be quite bad for mossies.

Although I haven't actually tried it myself, I used to be an Avon rep and customers used to buy it specifically for that purpose. If you'd buy it anyway, I suppose it's worth a try.

    Hello Peat

I've bought some Avon Skin-So-Soft Moisturising Dry Oil Body Spray (Avon ref code 26450) at £5 after it was recommended to me after we were bitten to blazes by the Scottish midges on an Abernethy forest walk in June. Next time we go to Scotland, we'll test it and report back.

I can't comment on how the Avon stuff performs on mosquitoes and would prefer to use Autan products anyway. I've used Autan in malaria and yellow fever areas/countries and have never been bitten. Autan is expensive but it works and protects you.

    Hope this helps.

I use SSS all the time on the West Coast of Scotland for the midges. Works for me and the smell is a lot nicer than most other remedies. Being a money saver I buy it when its BOGOF at Avon ;)

We were held up by a road accident on the A85, not the landslide last week, and were stuck for an hour at 10.30pm when the midgies were out in force. I whipped out my SSS and boy were the road workers and fellow travellers pleased. One road worker knew of SSS and the other didn't, he was a bit concerned at going home to his wife after midnight smelling so nice and trying to explain he really had been working.

I think the repellant nature of SSS was first found when used in USA against mossies.

the SSS range are available mix and match 3 for £6. Usually the dry oil SSS body spray is a fiver for one bottle, so not bad. There's other stuff like bath oil etc, whihc might be good early XMAS pressies...

Thanks for all the advice folks- a lot to mull over, personally I've tried Autan, Jungle Formula, oil of citronella and other concoctions against the dreaded midges but nothing has proved as successfull as avon sss. I was just unsure about its efficacy with mossies.
    Cheers

Avon is up to Campaign 14 now.
All of the SSS range is now BOGOF. And you can mix 'n' match.
In Campaign 15 SSS is all half price, which basically works out about the same anyway, and campaign 16 is 2 for £5 or 3 for £6.

And the last one is where the christmas prezzies begin!!! :D
