I am just following Delias recipe for mincemeat and thought I had all the ingredients, however I am in the middle of it and realised I don't have mixed ground spice  - the recipe also has nutmeg and ground cinnamon - so could I either omit it or is there an alternative?
Any help much appreciated.

I like boiled carrots. I find they are just as easy to mash and mix with mash.0

I too prefer carrots steamed....boiled takes a lot of the flavour away I find0

I love my carrots and leeks done in the microwave - separately of course
. With only using a small amount of water, both of them retain a really strong flavour. Then the cooking water can be added to any gravy that you're making - delicious.

have to ask why anyone would boil carrots! They're much nicer steamed.
They may well retain more nutrients when steamed, however 15 years ago a set of three cheap pans that were about as thick as foil was all I could afford setting up home.
Sometimes I steam, boil, roast, depends what I am doing and if my steamer is already full of vegetables that would have an altered taste once steamed with carrots.
Each to their own0
