Kenwood mixer to buy or or not to buy???

Hi guys..i dont venture into this thread very often :oBUT i have now decided despite a house which is full of clutter & piles of ironing (god i sound like a bad mother! ) that it has come to start doing more home baking etc.

I have got a hand held mixer which i use to make cakes (me & ds have great fun:D ) but it seems to struggle quite a bit. I asked my mum if she still had her kenwood and was delighted when she said yes and i could have it :j until this afternoon when i discovered it wasnt a mixer more a processor :( although she has said that she would go halves with me and buy a new kenwood mixer :T :A

So i have looked around and found this one at amazon and was wondering if it was any good ?? (ebay is out as she doesnt want to buy from there)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008BQZ4/pricerunner-21/ref=nosim
I also looking at getting a mixer attachment and wonder if this make does one ??

Any help/advise you can give would be great as i am totally confused with kenwood this and kenwood that  .

Thanks guys..
Brendan's new dance partner...please :D

That's a bit expensive really. I've just bought the Kenwood Chef 310 from lx direct and it came with the liquidizer too, it cost me £118 after using a £10 code I found on here.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

    F U Fund currently at £250
  • I was given a Kenwood mixer by my OH last Christmas (oh the romance  ).

It's been a godsend! I make all my own bread and boy do we eat alot of bread. It has probably paid for itself already. Make sure yours comes with a dough hook (I think it's standard anyway). The package I got came with a blender as well. We hardly use that at all - apart from the week when we went all healthy and were drinking Dr Gilliam McKeiths smoothies _pale_ Given the option I wouldn't have paid extra for it. But if you're into making soups then it'll be for you. :D

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • Hi, FF! I bought my chef with some of my redundancy money 14 years ago. Never regretted it. I use mine every week for cakes, bread dough, meringues, soup (in the blender).

As moggins said, that's a bit expensive, so try seeing if you can get one cheaper.

My mum's just given me her Kenwood after being upgraded to a Magimix :). They really are amazing, I think hers is about 20 years old and has survived so many cakes, meringues, soups etc. It also got through industrial use when we owned a pub for 5 years, and there was one in the kitchen I worked at after that, so definantly built to last!

If you do get one, look after the blender - I dropped ours and it broke, and it was really difficult to replace.
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment

We got the KM001 as a wedding present and it is indispensible. It's used several times a week for grinding coffee, making cake, batters, blending soups, rubbing in, making bread, mayonnaise etc.

It is fantastic - we got the dough hook, K-beater, whisk and blender attachments as standard; DH bought me the food mill/grinder bit as a birthday present. The recipe book that came with it is also very useful - it has lots of recipes as well as more general advice, like what to use each attachment for.

I wouldn't be without it now - no matter which one you get you'll be happy with it!
