Making bread in the Kenwood Chef?

Hiya,

I have a BM, but for a change I thought I would attempt to make some bread using my Kenwood.

I would like to make 3 loaves (got three loaf tins y'see!) .... I have a recipe for wholemeal bread in the book which came with my Kenwood, but can I just triple this, or do I need to make each batch separately?

Any pointers most welcome!

Cheers

  • I'd have thought you could just triple the ingredients then cut the dough into 3 to cook it.

My best friend uses her BM just for the intial mixing/kneading/rising bit then cooks it in bread tins with great results.

I used my kenwood for several years to make bread before I got a bread maker. The bread was nice, but not as light as that from the bread maker. I found wholemeal flour was best mixed with at least a 1/4 white. I think the cooking smell is stronger (and more enticing!) than the bread maker.
  • Funnily enough I've been thinking about trying this as well as I bought some great 'enough for two' loaf tins from Lakeland that were reduced, ok so I bought 4, but you can use them for cakes as well!! I give a lot of stuff to family as well so I needed the tins - ok!!
Anyway!... this has inspired me to have a go - want to try out the tiger bread paste effect that was from another thread.
I think theres something therapeutic about bread making and my family love coming home to that smell. Mr HQ and I used to make a lot of our own bread when we first got married and it was lovely, wish this site had been about then!!!

In the book that came with the Kenwood, or the manual, it should tell you the maximum amount of flour the chef can deal with at once. Enough for 3 loaves might be pushing the motor a bit, but it depends how big the loaves are (and possibly how old you kenwood is as I think some have more powerful motors than others). Might be best to do half at a time, and you may get better results that way.
