Finding out if child benefit is been paid

feel free to move if posted in wrong area but is it possible for a nrp to phone cb office and find out if it is been paid for their child to the pwc or would that breach data protection act?
thanks

If you can prove parentage I don't see that the information would be withheld but you'll need to call to know for sure, what makes you think its not in payment?

hubbies son may have left school and we are paying csa, if child benefit is not been paid then we would not have to pay csa. hasn't seen son for many years and maybe if ex stops getting money she may get in touch and we would know where he is.
will ring tomorrow. thanks for response.

would it not be better to contact CSA to flag up the concern, as then they'd presumably go to the mother for proof she's still in recipt of it?

And incidentally, if the child has left school but registered with Connexions, then there is a run on period for CB -- so it may still be a valid claim anyway

What SHOULD happen is that the CSA SHOULD send the NRP proof of the child benefit being in place, they send enough confidential information to the "PWC" about the NRP such as Salary circumstances etc, funny they don't volunteer anything about the other side! Good Luck keep posting as I will be making a similar call!

Ah but as always CSA have a queue for this type of query - with no response times!

Oh we rang csa, and they said yeah we phoned and she said he's still at school and that was all they needed to hear. will try cb office, if no joy will ring csa again.
  • Don't think they will give you this info under data protection, know I wouldn't & I work for JCP.

If you want to see your child why not apply through the courts for access thats the way most people do

I'm sure it would. You'd have to go through security questions - Child Ben nbr/NINo etc etc.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!

Tink, we have had many court orders for access visits but the pwc just ignored these and no matter how many times you go to court there is very little anyone can do to enforce an order.
    Thanks for the reply.
