I never use this account since I only have a basic cash card and opened it 9 years ago, anyway I get my statement today and am shocked to see a £30 unpaid direct debit charge!
PLUS a note saying im getting charged
This is the first I heard of this charge and considering the charge was put on my account on the 6th December why didnt they tell me before now!
What can I do as I never set up this direct debit(only for £5 anyway) and am very annoyed.
Im off to town later so will ask in branch but what about till then?

Cheeky indeed!
You need to find out first and foremost who this direct debit is for, presumably you never signed a DD agreement for this money to be taken! I'm sure someone here can advise you of the legalities involved.
Secondly (and this is only second and third hand advice), if you go into the bank and make a formal complaint about this, then demand that they refund the charge, they should. I have known of several people who have disputed unpaid DD charges and literally just walked into the bank and demanded they refund the fee, and they did!
Best of luck :rolleyes:LBM: 14.01.08 - Debt at 25.04.08: £7420.925.06.10: 3200.00 :T I'm over half way there!!! :j

I have a lot of my accounts with nationwide and I've always found them excellent at sorting out these kinds of problems. I know when cashcards etc have been fraudulently used they've refunded the £ without question. I'd say go in assuming it's a mix up and not being too annoyed about it and it will probably get sorted no problem.0
