Hi toomuchness,
These threads on the Christmas MoneySaving board have lots of ideas.
What to put in home made crackers
HM Crackers
What to put in crackers?
Anyone making crackers? What are you putting in them?
I'll move your thread to that board later to see if you can get more suggestions.

my wife puts scratch cards in them, and buys them cheap ones like primark opens the end and put nicer things in.0

We did badges one year using a badge kit and printing out the graphics.
Another year we did keyrings and badges and magnets using a harry potter theme and resin. (I still have my hogwarts keyring).
One year we did pencil toppers all made from fimo. They were animals and birds.
One year we did decorated pens and pencils which we painted in sports team colours.
We used to hunt for jokes too online and print them out ,roll them up and poke them in.
Everyone had a sweet in their cracker (from the tin).0 -
I have some to make, I am going to put people's names on them so the gift inside suits them.
Some ideas:
lego minifigures
small pencils, rubbers, pencil sharpeners
sweets
lottery ticket
mini toiletries/samples
hair bobbles/slides or kids bracelet/necklace (primark have cheap ones)
keyrings is also a nice idea0 -
Nail varnish? Primark/Poundland do packs you could split up. Lego minifigures are a great idea savingmonkey, they are £1.40 in Asda cheaper than the £1.99 they usually are.'They only had one cow!'0

In the cheapie shops I have seen fluffy gloves (one size fits all) for £1. Think they would roll tightly to fit a cracker!
Our Scope shop has amazing jewellery- 3 for £1. Maybe only our local shop?Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything! --
Many thanks
