    Olive oil makes sense - I bought Earth Friendly furniture polish a while back and it works well, the main ingredient (apart from water) is olive oil - it was £4 with free delivery and as you don't need much I think it will last for years (or go rancid before I use it all!) but still expensive for what it is and I am sure you could easily make a homemade version with cheap olive oil, orange or lemon oils/juice and water in a spray bottle and shake vigorously to 'emulsify'. :)

    4 or 5 parts white spirit to 1 part linseed oil would work too. This is the traditional mix for cleaning antique furniture.

    If you already have this stuff, it would work out cheaper than olive oil and lemon juice
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
