I think similar happened to my M-I-l - because she was over 70 and had enjoyed ill health throughout her life - a sort of hypochondriac who actually was ill - docs felt that there was no rush for doing tests and for some reason because she had quit smoking they never considered lung cancers. She wasn't properly diagnosed until after Christmas and then within 3 week she could hardly walk so she was house bound.
Eventually she was hospitalised but mainly because she had exasperated the district nurses and medics and they were passing her along to the hospital care so she was their problem.
Mostly nothing whatsoever happened in hospital. She was supposed to go to Christies for more tests but that never happened and she barely lasted 3 weeks in hospital.

    Good morning all....

Happy Birthdays to the girlies celebrating today.....and I hope you all have very special days xxx

Dearest's Di and HG....What sad news...my heart is with you both today...a daddy's love is very special and it is so hard when the time comes for goodbye.
HG I can feel your frustration over not getting the diagnosis or indeed treatment prior to your FIL's passing...I always believe something similar happened to us and there is always a "what if"or "if only" question raised....but you must take forward the thought that he is at peace now and pain free.

And...if it's not deemed inappropriate, can I pass on a gentle hug to your OH HG...

Take care of the mum's left behind...they really are special and just may need that extra hug going forward. xx

and before I trot back to semi lurkdom...perhaps someone could pass on some very special but belated birthday wishes to a lovely friend I haven't contacted recently, but who is very much in my thoughts, and whom I hope is enjoying life to the absolute max xx
