had another bash at making focaccia this evening, using a James Morton recipe (not James Martin, no time for him:mad:), it's the chap off Great British Bake Off - turned out really well. The topping is olive oil, garlic and chilli - yum yum:)

I like James Martin! he's done some good veggie stuff in the past (as well as being quite nice to look at..). Was James Morton the one in the jumpers??

Thanks for posting the chick pea pesto recipe - please post up if you try it.

Used 2 hm bean burgers from the freezer this evening, mainly as I had some vegan ice cream arriving on the Ocado order I had to fit in.. just with some griddled hot peppers and sliced beetroot and bread. Been stuffing some Green & Black's choc this evening too - I hardly have any bought treats these days so is so nice to have. Other than that, just some toast earlier as was out watching the cycling.

Yes James Morton was the Scottish guy in the Fair Isle jumpers:)
I have no time for James Martin I'm afraid. I had the misfortune to meet him well before he was famous, I had no idea who he was (this was in a pub near Earls Court), but he behaved like a Grade-A idiot (trying to be polite:)).

  • How are you freezing them, whole or peeled/cored/sliced? Just curious as I have a glut of (free) apples and just debating what to do with the surplus.

    Hi,
I peel and core them (cores and peel go to hens and alpacas - nothing wasted. I believe you can also make pectin for jam with them but I never have done this). Slice them into water with added lemon juice to stop them going brown. Drain and open freeze on trays, before bagging them up. I don't use fresh lemons as they are about 35p each but I use sainsbury bottled concentrated lemon or lime juice at 55p a bottle.
  • So I was eatingy waitrose wine and herb burger and found a piece of toothpick near the end, I tweeted them a lovely pic stitch of the tooth pick and label, they told me to take it in store, I'm off to do that!

  • I also think I have food poisoning, can't be sure from where though. But it was def from yesterday, I haven't eaten all day, don't think I dare.

Went and submitted my complaint, they didn't refund me, as I didn't have my receipt.

They have 28 days to reply.

Out: lamb shoulder, garlic nan, cake
In: cod pieces, salmon pieces, for a fish pie next week, pork shoulder joint from Morries,YS cubed chicken breast.

Doing quite well on using up older stuff - but still unable to resist bargains to back fill the spaces!

I've come to the conclusion that bargain hunting is an addiction. I've certainly got it. Perhaps there should be an AA for us, maybe called BA :):):)

    In to freezer - nothing.
Out of freezer - HM Sultana Scone, 2 HM Muffins + piece JJ's Herby Cheese Bread.
For dinner we had sausage stir fry with noodles.

I would like to join. Am in a particular financial crunch at the moment so could really use any money freed up by the stuff in my freezers and cupboards. My OH is off work (and also a chef and therefore does the cooking) but I think he is on board. We are 2 adults and a toddler and have the freezer bit of an American fridge freezer plus another upright freezer in the garage. Not overflowing but pretty full and we can certainly get several meals out of them. My parents have been visiting and paying for all groceries but they leave on Sunday. So I will begin on Monday and keep reading this thread for tips.
