I have just edited my signature and I really wanted to say a heartfelt thank you.
When I found the ELITE at New Year '13 we were in our second year of struggling since my husband's redundancy. We have six children and a rather large mortgage and benefits weren't quite stretching. My husband and I were literally living on toast and value pasta so that the children could have some fruit and veg etc.
You guys opened my eyes to the amount of money that I could save on food shopping etc. I thought that I was doing the right thing by buying 'value' everything but I was so wrong. I have learnt so much from you.
I am happy to say that seven months on my husband has a new job which has just been made permanent (after contracting since March). Financially, we are so much better off but this isn't because he has a huge salary (I wish) this is because of what I have learned from the ELITE. I have a small stash, know my target prices for most things and stick to them, and only buy if something represents good value for money (is a bargain) and I NEED it. I even have a coupon wallet! We do not waste money any more.
I love how the people on this thread work together, share knowledge and support each other. There is always someone here to help. I don't post an awful lot as I feel that I don't have much to contribute- I still have a lot to learn- but I love reading and feeling part of something special. Just today that spirit of sharing and assisting has been demonstrated in response to my post about the Ready Meal vouchers. It makes me sad when I read criticism from people who don't use the thread, saying that the ELITE are selfish and greedy. This is so far from the truth. This is a kind, cooperative place- even though I am not a prolific contributor I am always made to feel welcome.
So that is my rather long winded way of saying thank you- for everything that you have shared, all that you have taught me, your kindness and generosity. You have made the hugest difference to my family's life.
xxx
What a lovely contributionIm so glad things are on the up for you x
