I didnt get asked in for an appointment I was expecting and advisor rang me and when spoke to my WP advisor they said the benefit people sent them a letter and it simply said "client found work" .
I signed on as usual last week, and money was paid as normal, the date they told WP people that I started work, I was sitting in work programme.
What the??? I havent worked in several years, as am a single/divorced parent and trying to find work around the kids schooling.
Anyone else been taken off work programme for a job they dont even have? I take it it is some clerical error?

They just don't know what to do with me, cos I have limited hours I can work due to childcare and I have no experience of any job except some bits of voluntary that is washing dishes in a church cafe LOL hardly worth jotting on CV.
i quite enjoy twidddling my thumbs at a public pc station applying for jobs that say experience necessary and or CAR, ie I have no chance of getting! that is wp for you! oh and free coffee that ive never drank....they only have about 10 jobs to offer , temporary things as well....the people I talk to in waiting room are nice though, strangely can i say this? all poor dishevelled middle aged men the poor things sitting with unfresh clothing , that have the faint stench of alcohol and halitosis wafting off their breath, who are finding it difficult to read/write and in some cases, talk to the rest in the "workshops" it is even harder for them .They dont intend to be this way but are stuck in a poverty trap. This is my personal experience of the work programmes clients .
You need to find out who told the WP you had got a job and its not up to you to get the wp to make you an appt as someone has told them and if it wasnt you its the job centreWe’ve had to remove your signature. My WP advisor told me via tel, that the Jobcentre Plus had informed them in a letter that I had " found work" and when I raised it with my local Jobcentre (as instructed) so it turns out it has been a mistake , and they have nothing at all on the databank about it, and she got my screen up/file, there was zero mention of anything. It said claim was LIVE and she turned screen round to show me and sat looking puzzled.
True story, I have had to show the bloke in the Jobcentreplus office how to access my activity log the week on Universal Jobmatch site just before xmas as he admitted he hadn't a clue and he "was looking in the wrong bit". huh!
So what are the JC advising you? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Most likely explanation is clerical error - someone else with a similar name found work and the WP applied the note to your account.
Edit: That person is likely getting letters from the WP telling them they will be sanctioned for not attending... and I'm surprised that the WP haven't been hassling you asking where you are 'working' to get their bonus payments.0 -
If a person notifies the JCP they have found work the JCP send to the WP a WP07 form, ask to see this form then you will know who is telling the truth. It will have your name, nation insurance number and details of the date you have started work. If JCP have sent it then you can go back to them and ask why they have sent it, if the WP cannot produce the form then I would say the mistake is with them.0

" your life is not your own when you sign on" it is true, and even worse nowadays, you get benefits after a lot of form filling and being assessed. And you forget one appointment and you are sanctioned .It is horrible treated like you are scum.
And it will continue to get worse I'm afraid. But to be far there are still people who do not help them selves.
I spoke to a customer yesterday in our office kicking off because he now has a 26 week sanction for not applying for a job, reason he 'didn't get round to it'. This is now the 3rd time in 8 weeks he hasn't got round to applying for a job because he has other things to do and now faces a third sanction and it will be 3 years. Eight years unemployed, I say about time too.:beer:0 -

That is absolutely disgusting. I cannot believe your are revelling in someone getting a three year sanction, what a despicable person you are. Perhaps he needs help rather than punishment.0
