Money Fritters 'Enough Now' DFW Diary - Chapter 2

Apparently there is now a surge is wannabe olympic champions, and all those parents out there are thinking, how am i going to afford this?
Sometimes i think the british ethos is it's the taking part which is important, not the winning. Seems to be turning round, again. Me, i always play to win. Wasn't andy m just gutted at the silver yesterday? A bit sad really. Unforced errors, and a weakness spotted / targeted. I shall say no more. It happens.
Hi Ani,
Murray did very well in the singles. They did very well in the mixed 1st set, but in the second set I think Murray tired a bit and the opposition targeted Laura Robson. Overall though a great weekend of medals.
I think Laura Robson will be a future star, she is only 18, and she could go all the way in a couple more years.

Mf, didn't you also have a recipe for some sort of lentil curry way back when, ( probably several months or years ago.) I never copied it, stupidly, but it looked fantabulous.
Pretty please?
Just for you Ani,
This recipe is actually from the old style forum, but I can't find it anymore.
The spices in this recipe can be increased or decreased depending on your tastes.
Spicy red pepper, carrot and lentil soup.
250g of red lentils
2 onions
3-4 carrots (I use frozen slice carrots)
red pepper
1 litre of veg stock (you can increase this later if it is too thick, I actually like it thick though)
Red onion
Lemon
1tsp Paprika
1tsp Ground Corriander
1tsp Cumin
1tsp Chilli powder
Bay Leaf
4 Cloves of Garlic- Make the veg stock and place in a large pan. Add the red lentils and bring to the boil for 5 minutes
- At this point if there is any froth, scoop this off with a spoon.
- Now add the chopped onions and the crushed garlic. Also add the spices and the bay leaf
- Now add the sliced carrots and the chopped red pepper.
- Leave to simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Then take off the heat and add the chopped red onion and the lemon juice from half a lemon. Allow to stand for 5 minutes.
- Once cooled slightly, liquidise and serve with a crusty roll.
- If to thick you can always dilute with a bit more hot water.
You can increase the spices if you so desire.

P.S. I think this recipe was done by Curry Queen, but as I said before I can't find it on here anymore.DFW#972 LBM2 (09/07/12) £25938.84; Current £23783.35;Credit Credit Card1 £128.47/£6424.24 (2%);Credit Card2 £443.86/£15663.25 (2.8%); Overdraft £0/£2500 (0%)0 -
This is another lovely soup recipe
Spicy Butternut Squash Soup
2 tbsp Olive Oil
sprig of rosemary
2 bay leaves
3 garlic cloves crushed
1/2 medium chilli
1 medium butternut squash, peeled and cubed
2 carrots, chopped
1 large potato, peeled and cubed
2 celery sticks
1 medium onion, chopped
pinch cumin seeds
1/2 tsp chilli powder
pinch smoked paprika
2 pints veg/chicken stock
Method- Heat oil in a large saucepan and add garlic, chilli, paprika, bay, rosemary and cumin seeds and heat for 30seconds (do not colour, you only want to release the flavours).
- Add all the remaining ingredients apart from the stock.
- Saute the vegetables for 2 minutes until they are fully coated in the spices.
- Add the stock, turn down the heat and allow the soup to simmer for about 45 mins.
- Allow the soup to cool and then blend with a hand whisk, until free of lumps. If the soup is too thick add a little more stock until you have the desired consistancy.
- Reheat when ready to serve and eat with a big hunk of crusty bread, delicious!

Yummy Recipe.
Hi Folks,
I made a lovely green lentil stew last night.
The recipe is as follows:-
1 large onion
3 garlic cloves
1 tin of chopped tomatoes
2tsp soy sauce
2tbsp lemon juice
1-2tsp sage
200g of Green Lentils
400-500ml of Veg or chicken stock.
Firstly you finely chop the onion and fry in a bit of oil until golden brown. Then you add the freshly rinsed green lentils, followed by the chopped tomatoes, the stock, the crushed garlic cloves, soy sauce, sage and lemon juice.
Then you simmer for 40 minutes and then serve with a mixed salad, or some nice bread.
Enjoy Yummy

Well you should have known what i was talking about then. Shame on you.
It took me all of 10 mins to search through your thread. Aren't you impressed, may 2011? ( ps - have you eaten it since then, apart from tonight?)
Looks yummy anyway, especially with bread and salad. Any leftovers? :rotfl:
