Nice idea

When we met our wedding organiser recently she suggested an idea that I'd not heard of but am thinking of doing now.
Either choose a photo such as engagement one, or alternatively allow for a particular sized photo from your wedding day. Buy a frame quite a good size larger than intended photo size and get some nice card that could be used for mounting a photo, but mustn't be 'absorbent'. Take the card along to your wedding and ask guests to sign it then mount the photo along with all your guests signatures.
I'd probably still have a conventional guest book as people like to leave messages but I do like the idea of having a photo, maybe one of us and all guests, with all their signatures on it

Yeah my dad and his wife had one of these but it took someone going around asking people to sign it for anyone to bother which was a bit sad. Our photographer gives us one of our engagment shoot photos free on a board to sign which I thought was nice

a friend of mine wrote her & her husbands' names and the wedding date in beautiful writing on a board and had everyone sign around it then framed it. It looks lovely.
We're hopefully having a guest book from this website. Instead of the usual pretty book for people to sign, it has questions for the guests such as "How do you know the bride and groom?" and "draw a picture of the couple" and "what is your wish for us?". We are going to put coloured pens & pencils out for people to use. Hopefully it should be a bit of fun!

Friends of mine had a wedding plate which was signed - it looks lovely, and has pride of place in their living room now.
I love the idea of the signed photo frames - and those guestbooks are gorgeous magicboo! I see they've got photo options too, as I was toying with the polaroid idea too - so could get them to take photos of themselves as well. Looking on ebay it seems really expensive to get the film tho.0 -
Oh yes, we had this done as part of our wedding photography package. We chose a shot from our pre-wedding shoot and the photographer mounted it using a wide mount. He brought it on the wedding day and actually took it round the tables after the wedding breakfast.
Everyone signed it, and we got a big frame and hung it on the kitchen wall. It looks amazing and is a much better idea than a guest book which i imagin gets packed away and forgotten after the day is over. On the wall we look at it every day
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage! :beer:0 -
Wow! Thank you for sharing this idea. This is very helpful. Buy a frame quite a good size larger than intended photo size and get some nice card that could be used for mounting a photo, but mustn't be 'absorbent'. It is really fantastic.0

That looks like a great idea! I'm a bit worried that people are just going to put standard cliched stuff like 'best wishes', which is pretty boring and I want a keepsake that I can look through and laugh at, so something like that with prompts sounds like the ideal solution! Thank you!0 -
not trying to put a downer on things, but I work at a wedding venue and people either spend ages worrying about what to write that's a bit different, or just put "best wishes" because they're trying to enjoy the reception, have a dance etc. and don't want to stop to sign their name! As MissPixie said it does take quite a bit of effort to get people to sign it. I think it's a nice idea but not very practical unfortunatelykaterinasol wrote: »I'm a bit worried that people are just going to put standard cliched stuff like 'best wishes', which is pretty boring and I want a keepsake that I can look through and laugh at, so something like that with prompts sounds like the ideal solution!
