My DH has had to go on a course for ladder safety because of this. ( I am so fedup with PCers - No wonder this country is such a bloomin mess, they are turning us into a bunch of namby pambys)
Well back to the subject DH cleans my windows using a ladder and he also has a pole that extends to about 8 feet
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

My window cleaner now comes round with a massive tank of water and uses a long pole with a T think just pouring it out on to the windows, makes a good job of it but what a waste -
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I have been following the postings on this site & my question is :- can I use a magnetic cleaner to clear rain from the outside plastic windscreen on my motobility scooter canopy?

we had our hinges changed on our windows so instead of opening on a say 45 degree angle they now open like a door, really wide and also can click a little button on the hinge and the open window slides so can easily get my hand and arm through the gap to clean it. but for the bigger window i open it wide and sit out on the window ledge and put a cloth on the mop ( i twist off the mop head first tho) and then clean this way. although my postie was very concerned for me when he saw me doing this ( he a family friend) but said . what can i say i'm just like my mum, lol. nothing gets in my way when i need to clean . i come up with all sorts of inventions. lo.

Our window cleaners use a ladder, as do all the ones in the area.
    2 angels in heaven :A
  • here, building regs are different to England
windows on new builds or newly fitted windows NEED to be able to open fully so cleaning is easy

having said that (and i have a window cleaner)
last year they were dirty, i was outside pressure washing the path
    noticed windows were grubby

    hmmmmmmmm

    turned it on one window
as the water went across the building and onto the window
it took a lot of the rough cast stuff off:eek:

    not amused
serves me right for being lazy

There's a thread here on magnetic window cleaning gizmos:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/370521

This is the sort of item referred to:

Whiskeryron - not sure how strong your windscreen is - the magnets are very strong and scraping the surface across could cause scratching if any grit got caught?
I would think that the best thing would be for you to ask the manufacturer.

Can anyone recommend a useful gadget for cleaning the upstairs windows?

When my DH was doing it professionally he used a ladder, but he also has a long pole to put his applicator and squeegee on so that he could get to places that could not be reached by a ladder.
It is similar to the long poles that you can use for painting ceilings.
