Sweet smelling laundry?

I love the scent of lavender on my sheets, I use a spray bottle which holds 500mls, fill it with water and add 10 - 15 drops of lavender oil, readily available from pound shops etc. shake well and then pour the water in the water container on your iron...... result lavender smelling sheets, do not make the water mixture too strong, it can have the opposite effect if you use too much. You can also use the water bottle to spray any garments that are over dry.....I also use the same method for room sprays, my favourite is an oil from M & S....... after you have cleaned a quick spray leaves a pleasant smell drifting in the air.

Try to make sure that your oils are natural not man made chemicals. Man made oils can cause headaches and skin irritation.
I have cut back on the use of fabric softeners by adding a scoop of soda crystals to my washing powder. Towels are lovely and soft. Even with reduced fabric softner friends still comment on the lovely smell on my laundry (I think you don't smell your own after a while).
Talking of your home made sprays I make a home made one with water and T Tree oil to spray on DD hair before school. If I go through a phase of forgetting she always gets head lice~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I never use anything but natural oils, I buy them direct from Lothian herbs...... I do not use fabric conditioner and also use soda, I only use half the amount of powder they tell you to use and get great results. My washer has an A rate which I use at night, the only thing I do is set it for an extra rinse.......

Poppy9. Do you only use soda crystals as softner? Or if you use fabric conditioner as well, how much do you use?Titch0

Hi Mejulie,
I still use fabric softner. I put the soda crystals in with the washing powder.
I use about 1/2 the recommended amount of washing powder and a table spoon of soda crystals. With fabric softner I split the bottle with an empty one and add water to top upto full. I then add a cap full to each wash. Wash always has a lovely smell to it which lasts after ironing.
Tootles,
Sorry I wasn't accusing its just you mentioned buying oils in the £shop. I bought an oil from there once to put in a burner and gave me a dingdong of a headache ~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
