Hi All
I really love the Munchy Seeds that Lakeland do but they are really expensive. Does anyone have any ideas for a home-made variety?

Yes! I often make them, very adictive. What I do is toast sunflower and pumpkin seeds under the grill on some foil then while they're still hot tip them into a big bowl with a few spoons of soy sauce or Tamari, stir to coat well then spread them back on the foil to cool. Keep them in a sealed container. I have got a recipe somewhere, think it's called Gomasio, nice sprinkled on salads or soup but I just experiment with what I fancy.
HTH
editted to say, it's not Gomasio, that's sesame salt recipe, same page in my book as Tamari seeds, sorry! One debt v 100 days Part 14 £400/£400

Thanks very much - I think I shall have a go tonight.
I've got a recipe for Gomasio - I can't remember which book it's in, Penniless Vegetarian I think - but I couldn't find anything that was really close to munchy seeds!
Yum! Can't wait!PigginSkint's debt free diary

I usually dry fry a mixture of seeds in a frying pan - being careful not to over heat them - and then splash on some soy sauce and a squeeze of lemon juice. You could add some dried chilli flakes if you like it hot.0

I make these a lot
2 cups of sunflower seeds (that's US cup measures -use 2 teacupfuls)
1 tbsp of oil -any kind
1 tbsp of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
mix all together in alarge roasting tin and bake for 30 mins at 170 degrees C.
Stir every 10 mins or so.
Store in an airtight container.
Obviously you can use different seeds and experiment with the flavourings adding spices or garlic salt.
Much cheaper than the Lakeland ones and just as good.0 -

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I can't wait to make some now - I have not managed to get around to it yet because I have been very busy this week.
