Amazon price changes policy Please HELP

Options
Not a bargain but I know this was discussed and may help others to read the answers?

What is Amazon's policy if they change the price within 2 weeks of despatching an item (in this case I ordered two items at £99 but now see they have reduced them to £89) - £20 squid is £20 squid after all!!!

Many thanks for any answers

Not many people know this, but Amazon has a price drop policy. If they lower the price on something that you’ve purchased within the past 30 days, they’ll issue a credit (although you have to ask for it).

If you want to check if any of your purchases are eligible for a refund, just follow these simple steps:

    1. Visit “Your Account” and look at all invoices from the past thirty days.

    2. Click on the item names to pull up the current item description/price and compare to the price that you paid.

    3. If you paid more than the current price, copy down the order number and go to the “Return and Refunds Contact Form” page.

    4. Select “Refund Inquiry” as your subject, and check off the order(s) of interest. If you don’t see the order in question listed, enter the order number in the “Other” field.

    5. State in the comments that the price dropped, and that you want to be credited for the difference. It might help to mention the item name as well as old and new price, but I’m not sure that this is necessary.

    Hope this helps.

And for anyone interested in price watching. Use this tool to auto monitor an amazon item for you in price:

  • This is the response i got when i tried it -

    Dear Customer
We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with our policy
concerning price changes. I would like to offer an explanation of
some of the particular considerations which have led us to adopt this
    policy.

There are several million titles listed on our website, some of which
have never been ordered from us and may not have been ordered by any
retailer for quite a while. It would be impossible for us to regularly
check on the price of each item, and so we must rely on the data
supplied by publishers and other suppliers. We update our website
regularly with data from many sources, but occasionally this
    information is out-of-date or incorrect.

We make every effort to keep abreast of the changes in the status of
items, and we feel that having an on-line computerised catalogue
allows us to update it more regularly. Publishers do, however, change
the list prices of titles regularly and with so many titles in our
catalogue there will unavoidably be a few instances where an item's
price may have changed without our knowing it.

    Thank you for choosing Amazon.co.uk.

    Warmest regards

Is the price drop policy only from .com and not .co.uk?

I have sent Amazon an e-mail twice in the last month just stating that the price has been reduced and asking them to refund the difference. Both times I have had a refund within 24 hours and a standard e-mail stating that if the price is reduced within 30 days they will refund the difference.
  • I have also had price differences refunded a couple of times (from .co.uk). I use Amazon a lot and it's the things like that I love about them. I email them and get a reply within an hour or so and money refunded back to card within 24 hours.
    HTH.
  • Thanks guys I just got 12 pounds back - I didn't even know the price had dropped on the microwave i just bought and lo and behold it had and they have refunded me straight awau - excellent! :)

    (from co.uk btw)

Thanks, now I'll hopefully get the money back for something I'd been watching go up and down for ages but had to get at the higher price as it was a birthday prezzie. :j

Just got an e-mail refunding me £4, (not much but all helps)

When I purchased a printer there was a significant price change (DROP)and despite emails ,they just went round in circles,as if theyd never heard of
    thier own price policy.
They kept saying I was looking for a price match(with another company)
which I wasnt. It seems whoever replies its just luck as to whether
they are aware of their own policy.

In the end I tried their call back, even then I dont think the guy knew what I
was on about, but he gave me a £10 voucher.
