    Savvy-Sue, I've just re-read the post and agree with you. Now I am a little confused. Maybe Hesty needs to look at any work/training chronologically and this may help with references.

    If your most recent position was that of a full time university student, it will be a reference from the university that they will be seeking.

    Up to you who you decide to give as a second referee. Whoever it is, ensure you have their prior permission to grant you such a reference.
    (Theoretically, you should also get the permission of the University referee but they will be used to such requests so I wouldn't worry too much over them)

    I had to reference someone from Morrisons once.

    I think they just gave the dates if anything at all.
