Sky or Virgin Media after BR?

Was just thinking about the future and life after I go BR and I was wondering what would be the situation if I moved and needed Sky or Virgin. Do either credit check new customers, or are they like some of the gym chains where they just get you to sign a contract and take details to set up a direct debit?

Hi Welsh,
Don't know nowadays, read their terms and conditions on their website thoroughly but I owe Sky £100 from 4 years ago and it has never appeared on my credit report either has a debt or credit search.

we set up sky in the bridges shopping centre in sunderland, the bloke made us fill out the form, and he rang through and arranged an installation date. then sky came out and set it all up.0

Virgin do credit searches they did when I joined. Not sure how strict they are though sorry.0

I've been with both Sky & Virgin.
We had Virgin pre BR but we obviously had a bad credit rating, they asked for a £100 deposit which we got back after a year (and a bit of chasing up). We kept Virgin through our BR period.
We got Sky installed after our ED, they said they would run a credit check on us and it came back fine, this was before we had even done our post BR credit file clean up, so i would guess that they aren't that fussy regarding credit checks.
Hope this helps.0 -
Curly going off topic for a sec.....(sorry OP) please please dont let these people force you away from the freinds & support you have here
in the end they post to cause upset & are very happy when they win....dont let them!We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Really agree with Phil, Curly.
I had a troll on a thread of mine a long time ago, Phil will probably remember. It can hurt.
There will always be people out there ready to kick someone when they are down. What a sad life they lead hey? Reminds me of the playground 'bully', knocking down others to make themselves feel better.
Keep posting and remember the big majority of people on here are decent and want to help.

It really really can hurt....i've been on the receiving end of some VERY nasty things in the past including death threats (yup!) and in the end i've gone from here in the past a few times....I learned though nobody wins in that situation only the trolls all it ends up doing is hurting you & people who come here who are genuine & in need of help & support
the nice ones more than make up for the nasty ones...(although the ones in the Inn can be a little weird!!
