I know we cant offer medical advice here but not sure it is a medical problem anyway. Last year on holiday on Florida after loads of walking my feet really started to hurt under the arches but especially my left foot. It got so painful I really had trouble walking. I bought some gel insoles which meant I had to buy a pair of shoes a size bigger so they could fit in. This made a difference and eventually the problem went away when I came back. For 2 months now I've had it again. When I wake up first thing in the morning my foot is killing me and really painful and walking downstairs really hurts. Its like a cramp pain and I cant flex my foot without it hurting. After a few minutes walking about it eases up but buy the end of the day its painful again. I have got a sore spot when I press on the spot but theres no bruising or anything. I do get it in my right foot but not nearly so much. Is it the hot weather??? I wear hushpuppies shoes with padded soles for work all day which are quite supportive but when I wear my flip flops at home it hurts a lot more.

it sounds to me as if you don't so much need a chiropodist as a podiatrist, and if you don't want to go and see your GP (which would be the obvious thing to do) you could try going to a shop that specialises in selling running shoes and see if they can give you any advice.
If it hurts more in flip flops than in your hush puppies then it does sound as if you need more support.
When I had something that might have been similar, GP referred me to the physiotherapist and that helped a lot.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I had this -ermed & shuffled my feet (no pun intended:D) for going on a year.
I'd go to your GP & as above get a referral to a podiatrist - with me it turned out that due to a sprain on my other leg a year earlier, I'd been walking funny & had a bleeding/bruised/? planta facia?.
They tried me with temporary insoles to correct my walking, then oh heavens,:( steriod injections which only worked for a while, now I'm on permanent insoles to try & get the foot corrected.
While you are waiting for the referral, the advice from the consultant, & other colleagues at work who are in foot health suggested to help were:
*stretch before getting out of bed - do the sitting up in bed and touching the toes, as well as circling your ankles.
*wear shoes with support that holds your foot properly, trainers/ walking boots are best -I've discovered a company called hotter https://www.hotter.co.uk which do 'sensible' shoes. Flip flops etc are banned because your 'foot wobbles all over the place'I've compromised by wearing open toed sensible shoes to work & keeping a selection under my desk for use in the office
*wear slippers round the house
*stretch your calf muscles whenever you have a chance, mine apparently were very stiff, which added to the problem
*Lose weight
*try non weight bearing exercise such as swimming and aquarobics
*take glucosomine?
* my consultant also reccommended some of those rutatox blah blah extrct things, I'll see if I can find what it's actually called & will post it.
*ice your feet by freezing a bottle of water and rolling it under your foot. Repeat regularly as often as you can to stimulate blood flow
If you have something similar to mine, bear with it, it will be a slow process to clarify what works for you (or not!) and mainly because a lot of the things to speed up recovery are in your hands.
