Hi there,i last visited a few months ago when i was in a lot of trouble,im sorry not been back in touch, ive been trying to get my life back together,my health needed seeing to and i thought i was doing ok until now!
Basically the natwest bank forced me into another loan to consolidate my previous loan which had arrears and my overdraft which was seriously overdrawn this totalled £29000 0ver 10 years at 450 a month,i accepted this and gave back both my chequebook and guarantee card,a few weeks after the loan was set up the natwest sent me a brand new cheque guarantee card and chequebook which i started to use,i started to cash heques again because i was still finding the payments difficult and if truth be told couldnt afford it.i then couldnt get another chequebook and had to let the cheques go through my account is now about £600 overdrawn again and i missed a loan payment. This morning i had a phone call from natwest who said that they are going to default my loan and account in 2 weeks,se was very pleasent and asked if i could pay but i ad to admit i didnt think i can keep up wit the payments as had to take a drop in hours from work due to my health problems.
I asked if i could pay half payments for a while, was told no,i asked if i could add the arrears onto the end of the loan, again was told no,i either get up to date or face default. Please can anyone advise what will happen to me if natwest default,im scared again and dont want to keep with this cycle. All my other creditors have accepted and happy with reduced payments.PLEASE HELP ANYBODY

    Hi Petal :hello:

The experts will be along soon to offer some great advice. I just wanted to wish you well. Am I right to assume that you are on a DMP? Are you with one of the debt charities like CCCS?

Firstly, you're health is the most important thing. I know it is hard, but please try not to worry. You've taken a great step in facing your debt. Have you called the CCCS to see what they advise about Barclays? They're probably closed now, but maybe worth calling them in the morning to find out exactly what can be done? It seems quite quiet on the boards tonight, but you'll get some great advice off the other DFW's.

Also, it's always a good idea to post your SOA, so that others can advise on ways you can cut down your expenses to free some cash to pay the debt.

Hi petal - No need to apologise. I have just been reading your original thread and, whilst things probably look pretty bleak at the moment, there is a solution, out there - it just needs finding.
The first thing, that you must do, is to talk with one of the Debt Counselling Charities, such as National Debtline - 0808 808 4000, CCCS - 0800 138 1111, or your local CAB. They will give you free professional advice and go through your income and expenditure before they reccomend the best solution for you.
It looks as though you have fallen into the 'consolidation' trap, possibly by being given bad advice in the past, so keep all your options open, but speak to someone who has no financial gain to make out of helping you.
And, whilst it is easy to say, try not to worry too much - it's only money at the end of the day - there are plenty more in your position, and the financial institutions like to keep up the pressure, even though they may have been, in no small way, partially responsible for your demise.
Debt is not a criminal offence - nobody is going to drag you off to prison - and there are plenty of people who will be only too pleased to help you.
    Good luck.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I'm sorry but what a load of twoddle!!!

    Delboy take note:
There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
You shouldn't be telling the OP to get a grip, they are here for support and are trying to take control of their financial matters without being judged!

The OP has had poor health which will have no doubt contributed to their debt levels. It is all very well you saying raise more than you spend and dont spend more than you earn but this isn't always possible. Petal might not be able to raise extra cash and may not be able to spend less than she earns due to commitments, for example her loan, rent/ mortgage, council tax, gas, electric, food etc. And as for the if she isn't serious just go bankrupt??? The last time I checked bankruptcy was a serious matter and something to be considered very carefully.

    ****************************************************************
Petal, I haven't gotten around to reading your original post but please don't lose heart. Illness and poor health are something which you have no control over and you shouldn't feel guilty for letting it affect you. Being in debt does not make you a bad person. As many have already suggested try calling the debt charities like CCCS or National Debtline or even your local CAB, they may be able to help.

I was in a similar situation to your self although for not as much and i contacted the CCCS and am now on a DMP where I pay a smaller manageable amount and although it may take longer to pay the debt off it means that I can afford to live. I may still get a default on some accounts but they will be gone after 6 years.

Talk to the debt charities they may be able to help and maybe bankruptcy would be the better option for you the charities will help you work out what is for the best though and will give you step by step help.

    Good luck Petal. x

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

refreshed as the other was getting to long because evryone is wonderful and helpful!!!.:D

Delboy hasa whole series of posts on DFw over the last few weeks which are tactless and judgemental, generally just inside the bounds of reporting.

    Petal

Delboy posts indiscrimately on here, making nasty comments on threads by people who are new and vunerable. The sort of behaviour one might expect in a badly run secondary school. Please take note of the other folk here and keep posting.
