Anyone know where I can sell my wedding dress? 11th Jan 08 at 10:12 AM
    Hello there.

I'm normally only on the debt free wannabe section, but I thought I'd pop in here to ask this as you're all far more likely to know.

I'm trying to sell my wedding dress and shoes (maggie sottero - julie size 10-12) and I don't know where to start really. I don't want to put it on ebay because they've blocked the site at work and it's my only internet access.

Do you know of any shops online or otherwise that buy used wedding dresses?

    Thanks

If I put mine on eBay would it be more trouble than it's worth as it was made to fit so I'm unsure of size! It's roughly a 20/22 any advice ps I'm not a bot this is the first hit when you google sell wedding dress UK

I would say go for it just put it in the listing it was made to measure but have rough size guide. Anyone who buys a wedding dress on eBay should be aware it 90% will need alterations! My sister got hers kind of 2nd hand (wedding didn't go ahead) on eBay and it needed altering but looked beautiful! Hope you get a buyer

How to sell your wedding dress
I typed in to Google "how to sell my wedding dress" and this forum came up and I can see that other people are trying to sell their second hand wedding dresses too. Any recommendations from people would be greatly appreciated.

I have so far found a few sites and one that looks particularly good is called The Wedding Dress Link.

Any help would be great and any recommendations on what to put in an advert to increase the chances of me getting a sale quickly would be helpful too.

Anyone had goodluck selling their dresses?
I'll appreciate further suggestions and updates please.
I have 3 to sell and I've listed them on Gumtree and preloved.
    I'll try ebay too.

I finally sold mine a couple of weeks ago, pretty much a year to the date I got married so if you're struggling to sell...keep persevering! I was started to get a it fed up and my husband was like "you'll never sell it...give up".

I got about a third of what I paid for it and it was immaculate. I had quite a few people who said they were interested in that time but when it actually came to trying/buying nothing ever came of it.

Top tip: I sent mine using Doddle - worked out quicker and cheaper than sending via Hermes (parcel was too big for Royal Mail) and they were very helpful in the shop which is always nice. Make sure you stash away a box big enough to post it in if you're doing that, I had a mad panic to try and source a box.

Where did you sell it in the end? There are so many options, hard to know which ones actually work! I don't want to go down the ebay route unless I need to, as I've heard their commission is quite high relatively. Thanks!

Try Ebay but remember to enter a reserve price, otherwise you will end up selling it for nothing

You may reach to those people who give dresses on rent! Just google for those! I am sure that they will be interested in buying if your dress is in good condition but you need to negotiate with them in order to get the best price.

I had 1 fitting but sadly the dress is still with me ;-( Its rather hard to sell it as IMHO loads of new brides want to buy a brand new dress rather then second hand one ;-(

I've not listed my dress anywhere yet (need to clean it) but I listed some decor and other stuff on a site called sellmywedding.co.uk and was actually really surprised with the response.

You do have to pay for membership to list things, but it's a one off 10, and there are no selling fees. I did have some PayPal fees but if you only did cash on collection then that wouldn't be an issue.

I'll be putting my dress on there when it's ready, and I'll try some of the other suggestions in this thread too. I think eBay will be a last resort.
