Auto renewal without notification (not car insurance) 14th Jan 20 at 1:13 PM
I thought my Eurosport subscription (this is the online, app subscription) runs out on the 16th Jan, turns out it was November last year. I also really thought I'd cancelled auto renewal my internet history shows I went to my account page back in September, but apparently I hadn't.

So they auto-renewed but there was no notification, no thanks for renewing, absolutely no communication about the renewal or my subscription at all.

I've googled and googled this but can't find an answer...

Are they allowed to auto renew with no communication?

    Thanks

    YES.

There are certain types of Eurosport Pass that will automatically renew unless you prevent Your Pass from auto-renewing before your next renewal date (for details on how to do this, see "Cancellation" below). If Your Pass auto-renews, it will do so for the same duration as the initial term (unless we tell you otherwise) and you authorise us to charge your next subscription fee to your Payment Method.
If you do not want it to renew, follow the instruction to cancel
    https://help.eurosport.com/hc/en-gb

If you really are not going to use them again. You can also cancel via your bank/card provider.

Thank you, home, car insurance, breakdown cover, my newspaper subscription all recently got in touch before auto renewing. It's not the auto renewal I have that's the issue it's the no communication before hand.

There are many auto renewal's that do not contact you. \especially if it is a online company or app based.

If they're in the EU (france according to the T&C's) then they should tell you in a durable medium at the time of entering the contract what the process for cancelling is.

As for the reminder, that would only potentially come into it if you argued the automatic renewal was an unfair term. But you might find they'll claim they sent one and its possibly gone to your junk folder.

I've got several products that auto-renew without notification - Netflix, Spotify etc
They're allowed to do it, the onus is on you to keep a tab on it.
