Purchased refurbished laptop from itzoo.. 14th Jan 20 at 12:58 PM
    Howdy !
I took the advice from some good folk here and did the above .
I managed to workout how to set it all up . With this laptop, I have to press esc/f12 for it to boot up on windows.

It is supposed to come with windows 10 . This is possible if I peel off the code on the sticker at the bottom of the laptop .
Only problem is , the code doesn't work after entering it so many times

I sent an email to itzoo on Saturday , and as yet haven't heard anything . I don't want to appear too jumpy as I think 48 hrs or so should be allowed for a response .

I was pointed in the direction of itzoo , and told that they are a reputable company .

Any advice how to proceed ?

    Thanks

    Yes! That's the one
It didn't work when I tried many many times.
I could only get this far if I pressed f12 etc and got to windows boot manager . .

There are details on a previous post I did regarding if I should buy a pc for work or not .
What is happening is that I get a black screen with a message " invalid partition label ." This confused me, as I expected to just turn on , and off I go . I did post a couple of updates on Saturday but the thread was getting a lack of interest or everyone was busy . I googled as to what to do , and it seems that the only thing to do was press esc/f12
Sent messages to itzoo with no reply .
When I press esc/f12,it exits boot agent .
I tried legacy boot / uefi boot which takes me to windows boot manager. This is the only option that works . Bios setup etc does not
I have no idea what version of Windows I'm on . I just keep getting messages telling me I "need to activate windows"
Hope this explains things more clearly ..

Anyway, it appears to be this one; https://itzoo.co.uk/products/dell-latitude-e6430-laptop-3rd-gen-i5-2-7ghz-windows-10

I have never heard of Windows Boot Agent. Are you referring to the Intel Boot Agent?

Everything is explained now . Sorry it took so long . I'm new to pc and may have worded things differently through no fault of my own
In fact I shouldn't have any of these problems . It should work right out of the box . Please don't crucify me without my cross and nails
You are an expert and I am not .
There is way too much to explain and if I did nobody would bother due to length of text.
Anyway , UEFI boot : windows boot manager is the only thing that works .

Lets sort your first problem out first (having to press F12)

What is the make and model of the computer ?

If Intel Boot Agent, then likely the refurbishers used that to install Windows 10 to their machines. They clearly didn't bother to disable it afterwards.

Expert has nothing to do with it. You either continue to post on the old thread where the details of the device are contained or put the details of the device within the new thread.

I totally agree that the device should work straight out of the box. Poor from IT Zoo.

There is no reason for you to be messing around having to sort it out yourself.

Personally I would make them collect it at their cost, fix it and send it back to you.

    Thank you
I'm still waiting for the tech guy to phone me , and will update as to the outcome . I emailed and phoned itzoo on Saturday as mentioned.
I thought I'd give them till yesterday and had to chase them up again

It does seem that quality control ,and lack of care from itzoo is partly to blame here .

    Will keep you posted ..

Stuff happens ... I've got 25 Dell laptops here at my work for a project. Fresh out of the box I have:

    1 incorrect keyboard
    1 faulty battery

    So it's not just refurbs.

(Dell service engineer is here right now to fix them).
    Diary of a madman
    Walk the line again today
    Entries of confusion

I don't expect you will obtain the same result. The absolute minimum is a full refund with the return at their expense and at your convenience.

In your case, to cover your inconvenience, I would request that they fit an SSD(that you will purchase for 15 and send along with the return) and install Windows 10 to it for you, at no further cost.
Depends on how good you are at negotiating. Talk to Darren about it.
    It's a reasonable request.

TBH , it may be a sign to get rid . I'm a Mac user (not a fantastic one it has to be said )
The idea was to get up to speed with office work for my hopeful eventual part time job. I took an induction last week and it was basically for word , excel etc.
However, a few days ago I managed to purchase Microsoft office for Mac on fleabay for 5.50 .
So , I'm thinking do I really need a windows laptop after all?
I'm unemployed and have basic knowledge ( ie I can do outlook , Internet explorer and a tiny bit of excel . Plus I used to use DHL and UPS systems for shipments ) .
This is why I sound very naive and even more so when I got something unfit for purpose sent to me .
    I hope you understand

So I receive email from Darren . He must be hard of hearing and short sighted . He is chasing the tech guys as they are very busy .
What part of ' returning as it's not fit for purpose ' does he not understand ?

It's been rejected as faulty and unfit for purpose, so they should organise the return.

Just remind them that you are no longer interested in persevering with trying to fix it and that they should organise the return without further delay.

I haven't heard from them since asking for a refund .
Will phone them if I can get through this time . Sad really , as they were recommended on my other post ..
