New year plus new decade equals, new diary 8th Jan 20 at 1:12 PM
More details to follow but here we go, I've started it!

Goals for 2020 are as follows:
*Keep up to date with my penny a day jar (towards DMP)
*Keep up to date with my 1 a day jar (towards Christmas 2020)
*Daily Tilly Tidying (rounding down the pennies in my current account against the mortgage - if it's at ??.00 I pay 1.00)
*Building my emergency fund up to 1,000

I'm sure there's more and I need to update my sig. but off to do some work for a bit now.

A few more to add to the list:

Goals for 2020 are as follows:
*Keep up to date with my penny a day jar (towards DMP)
*Keep up to date with my 1 a day jar (towards Christmas 2020)
*Daily Tilly Tidying (rounding down the pennies in my current account against the mortgage - if it's at ??.00 I pay 1.00)
*Building my emergency fund up to 1,000
*Clear out something every day (this could be one thing into the charity bag, one single item used up or a whole cupboard cleared out)
*get rid of my 0% furniture balance - it's not massive but would like it gone and ahead of schedule at that
*get on the ebay case - I go through fits and starts with this. I've found really that only new items with tags are worth the hassle so will create a bootfair pile for the rest
*breakfasts, lunches and snacks to be taken to work every day - all it takes is a little organisation but can be a massive saving in the long run
*stay on the no smoking wagon - I suprised myself and everyone else last year by one day just giving up and moving onto a vape and haven't looked back. Yes - I know vapes aren't great either and I am now on a quarter of the strength fluid I was using when I first quit but there's obviously room for improvement there still.
*maintain/drop some weight - this one I'm not too fussed about. If I maintained I'd be happy but if I dropped a little I'd be even happier!

Just a quick catchup today - signature updated.

Up to date with everything so far - my penny a day jar and 1 a day jar are paid upto and including 19th Jan as I get paid again on 20th so that can go to the back of my mind until then.

TT's done for today and all food brought from home to work.

Still in "using stuff up" mode from Christmas so will hopefully start to see some space in the cupboards and freezer soon!

Mission tonight is to go through the tea/coffee/sugar cupboard, clear it out, wipe it out and return what we're keeping. Also to list a bag on ebay.

    So a little more info:

My DMP which started at around the 30k mark began in September 2010 with an end date of sometime in 2025 at first. Of course I didn't care at the time, I was just glad I was out of immediate danger and plodded on for a few years making the monthly payments.

In more recent years I've made over payments of my penny a day jar, any Christmas bonuses (not massive ones don't get me wrong, maybe 50 or 100 a year but they are very good to us all year round). Also in February and March each year I've paid my council tax money to it where you don't have to pay it those months.

So now I find myself with my DFD brought forward quite a bit and I'm wondering how much better I can do. My OH has a big celebration this June which we will probably go away for and then I have a big celebration August 2021 for which I'd like to say I'm DMP free!!

I feel some calculations and a spreadsheet coming on!

    Keep it up.

    Morning all!

TT's done for the day and my breakfast, snacks and lunch have been brought from home.

Continuing to clear out the house room by room. We have lots we'd like to do in the house but no budget to do it at the moment so focussing on clearing out is helping me to see the bigger picture. If each room is only full of essentials/things we will need/use then it will be easier to do the jobs once we have the cash in the budget. Plus it makes me feel a little cleansed!

Today I gave away 2 bottles of truffle oil (I cant stand truffle, my palate is obviously not sophisticated enough to appreciate it) to someone at work who I know will use it. Someone else at work who does a lot of baking has received 2 x bags of golden caster sugar. And a friend will be receiving a litre of bubble bath on my way home tonight - we never bath, only ever shower.

The bathroom is now fully "cleansed" and I'm onto the kitchen with a vengance! One cupboard/drawer per day minimum.

Right - I'm now also back on the case with my survey clicks, must keep it up. They add up sooooo slowly though and take ages to pay out but I must remember that I'll be grateful when I finally receive that payout - slow and steady wins the race as my granny used to say!

Almost the weekend - thank goodness. I'm tired this week. No lay in tomorrow though - we run a sports club and will be attending tomorrow so YS sausages for breakfast (I love a bit of YS shopping/freezing/cooking) and then straight out organising everyone before an afternoon in the freezing cold! I may have treat myself to a glass of wine or two to warm myself up when I get in around 6pm - all in the interest of using things up and clearing things out obviously!

We're always shattered by the time we get in on Saturdays (it's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster watching your own club, whether they win or lose) so cooking is the last thing on our minds. In days gone by we would have thought nothing of shelling out for a delivery pizza plus sides - 30 plus?! Nowadays I have chicken goujons ready to cook from the freezer and I'll look out for a YS pizza on my travels tonight. A saving/not spending of around 25. Shocking really.

Another 2.00 off the furniture and 2.00 towards the EF - I won't be able to maintain these levels of over payments, this is a one off week where I've had very little to pay out for due to using up supplies indoors.

TT’s done for the day and I’m up to date with everything else. One kitchen cupboard cleaned out already this morning - why is it I’m always awake at silly o’clock on the one day I don’t have to be up early? !♀️

Dishwasher unloaded and one load of laundry on, dried laundry folded and put/hung away. Slow cooker ready to go on later with curry in there (meat was ys from the freezer). Hopefully be enough leftovers for lunches tomorrow.

Ys sausages in a baguette for breakfast and then I’m off into town to get a few fresh bits I need and any ys bargains I can dig out - happy Sunday everyone!

Another cupboard cleaned out and another load of laundry hung out - I’m on a roll today! Also been through my “spares” makeup drawer and got all the odds and sods of ends of foundation bottles and eyeshadow pots - determined to use them up this week to create some space and delay paying out for more new ones.

Recycling and bins done ready for tomorrow morning. Breakfast done and cleared away - I won’t be slimming down any time soon if I carry on like this

Monday morning is out of the way so things are looking up!

TT's done for the day (I try to remember to do it before I get out of bed in the morning). Washing machine and dishwasher loaded and turned on before I came out so OH will unload dishes and hang laundry when it's finished as he's WFH today. I do like to keep on top of these things. We try to only use the dishwasher every few days but the WM rarely has a day off and some days has to do 2 or even 3 loads although I'm trying to be better at this.

All food brought to work today and no reason to spend any more than 1.85 on a birthday card at lunchtime. (Hopefully less, although I've never found a cheaper one in the only shop near work that sells them)

YS thai fishcakes for dinner tonight with YS mashed veg and tinned sweetcorn. Hopefully I'll get another kitchen cupboard cleaned out on the way too. I found a stash of individually wrapped teabags when clearing out the other day (samples/giveaways) so working our way through them to avoid buying any more until payday.

Will be a very tight week this week leading up to payday on Monday, however, I don't really need much - few bits like bread/veg and hopefully my loyalty card points will cover those. Will definitely need petrol but 10 should cover it and I have that set aside. Fingers crossed nothing untoward arises! After today 6 days to go!

I found a 1.80 birthday card! Small victories and all that!

Transferred 1 to my EF and 3 to the furniture account - slow and steady wins the race! Sig. updated.

Also found a large pack of leeks on YS for 35p.

    Up to date with:
*Penny a day jar (upto end Jan now)
*1 a day jar (upto end Jan now)
*Daily Tilly Tidying of the mortgage
*Emergency fund building - albeit VERY slowly!
*Clearing out the house - although still a lot to do including getting OH on board
*Furniture balance coming down - paid over half of the balance in 10 months of a 24 month agreement
*Ebaying - got a few items on there but could deffo do better, lots to sell so just need to get down to listing it then it pretty much takes care of itself. OH is out tonight so will get on the case a bit.
*All breakfasts/lunches/snacks brought to work - been 100% spot on at this. Nearly all of the Christmas "goodies" have been used up from indoors now so should be able to start being a bit more fruit and veg/salad based from after this weekend.
*Still not smoking - the last vape juice I bought, instead of lasting me usually 10 days, lasted 3 weeks so subconsciously cutting down there too. Must keep on at this.
*Maintain/drop some weight - well I have maintained and hopefully the drop will come once my meals are healthier after this weekend.

So lunch today is YS macaroni cheese ready meal and dinner will be garlic chicken with tinned new potatoes and YS leeks in a white sauce.

Is it possible to roast tinned new potatoes? And would I par boil them first and just treat them like fresh potatoes? ie. same amount of cooking time, oil etc. Never done it and just wondered if anyone has tried - thinking of keeping things varied so we don't get bored.

No reason to spend anything today so I'm not going to!

I popped to the shops at lunchtime but there were only cakes on YS so I manged to not spend anything.

One item sold on ebay so I'll package that up tonight and post it off tomorrow. Will list at least two items tonight, one to replace the sold one and another.

Hi Charhen, you are very motivated and focussed.
Might be a bit late on the tinned potatoes question but my mother in law used to put them in the oven For about 15 minutes, dotted with butter and salt and pepper and covered with foil. They don't crisp up but taste a bit different to usual. Not worth putting on the oven just to do them but quite nice.

Thanks blackcats - I’ll deffo try that another time. To be honest I only started using tinned potatoes recently - I thought my OH would be horrified but he actually said they were really nice steamed and could we have them more often!
