No Craft Spending in 2020 - I will bust my stash this year!!!

No Craft Spending in 2020 - I will bust my stash this year!!! 29th Dec 19 at 7:16 PM
So after my failure this year I am most definately going to try really hard to bust my stash in 2020 so have put myself on a self imposed craft spending ban during 2020. I originally thought of 20 months of No spending but thought given my last feeble attempts I thought I'd start with just a year and see how I get on.

So the rules are I cannot buy any new craft supplies except for adhesives once mine have run out, supplies for orders (for items which I already make) or crafty storage.

Other than that I hope to use only things from my stash and not get tempted by the new shiny objects which keep being released.

My aim is to make 2020 items during the year.
This will be a mixture of cards, scrapbook pages, project Life (I will class each page as one item), handmade items - in fact a real mixture of things as I'm sure I have all the supplies I need to make pretty much everything I can think of!

Would anybody care to join me?
The rules are simple - there are no hard and fast rules apart from what you want them to be. The aim is to use our crafty stash without buying more but of course if you do weaken and grow your stash just come in and confess your sins and you will be forgiven

You can set your own target of how many items you would like to make using your stash or just a certain number of time you want to not buy for. Whatever works for you is ok with me

    Hi all -

I’d love to sign up again.

My aim is 400 for the year again. Didn’t manage it last year but I’m hoping to this year.

I’ve manage three today. Fixed a table which did require a £4 spend on wood filler - but I love that table and it’s well worth fixing. used up some screws I had knocking about. I need to sort out some other stuff I took off the table too.

    Stashbuster - 2014 98/100 - 2015 175/200 - 2016 501 / 500 2017 - 200 / 500 2018 3 / 500

It was my Christmas present about 4 years ago. I really don't use it as much as I should, so my challenge is as much about using the equipment I have as well as using my stash of craft stuff.

I'm declaring further 2 makes today as I've just completed two more pages of my Project Life album filling it mainly with photographs of my son's poorly foot but I've used up 4 sheets of photo paper and lots of stickers plus a little scrap of cardstock so hopefully little will count.

My total now stands at 84/2020

Have covered a rubbish bin that had become grubby, with a piece of fabric from stash. Looking quite smart now and serviceable for a bit longer
Nice to see some old names back and well done to everyone.
    Total 44/150.

I'm declaring further 3 makes towards my total which I have completed today.

    These are:-

5 sheets of stickers for an order (counting as one make as all the same)

100 3x3 inch thank you cards for an order (counting as one make as were just print and cut but did use up 17 sheets of cardstock)

    1 x sheet of stickers

So in total I have used up 17 sheets of cardstock and 6 sheets of stickers

My total now stands at 87/2020 -I'm edging slowly to triple figures

I have knitted and decorated and sewn up another two trauma blankets yesterday and today. I was going to have a rest but I guess I'm addicted! Did use up the last of a couple of balls of wool though, and loads of bits that were sewn on them.

I'm delivering the 16 I've finished on Wednesday and picking up some more that are knitted and need decorating. This is likely to be ongoing so I'll be using up some bits and pieces every day.

Wow everyone has made so much so far this year.

Am still at 0/150 but knitting a new long scarf which seems to be never-ending at the moment - am hoping I might be able to get it finished by the end of the week. Then want to do something different for a couple of weeks...

Keep going everyone, you’re all doing amazingly!!!

I've knitted and decorated another fiddle blanket today - not going to call them trauma blankets any more. I started it this morning when we went out in the car: an hour's journey saw half of it done, and I knitted the rest during the afternoon. Decorated it tonight.

So another one to add to my total gradually creeping up!

Thank you craftingmad, but you're steaming ahead too. Had a meeting this morning with the fiddle blanket ladies, handed over 17 finished ones, and brought home another 26 to decorate and finish! That will use up a lot more embellishments, good.

Also decided to re-name them Feel the Love sensory mats....much easier explanation than trauma blankets because they're not blankets, they're the size of a placemat, and they're not for just trauma patients, but for anyone anxious that needs calming down in the hospital environment.

Got a hankering to get my machine out and do some sewing, but not sure what. I've got umpteen sets of bunting to make, so might have a go at one of those.

I'm declaring a further 5 makes today (all sticker sheets for orders) but have to admit that I should have really made many more things but instead chose to have afternoon tea with my neighbours at a local hotel. The pull of the cake was just too great

These manage to pull my total into the 90's now though so I'm getting there very slowly but working my way up to a busy creating day tomorrow

So my total is now 93/2020

Aw thanks craftingmad, very kind of you to say. I love helping out with things like this, used to knit squares for blankets for the homeless too. Started off as a local project, now has grown into a national thing with many pods in various locations, all knitting squares, getting them sewn into blankets and giving to the homeless in their local areas.

I also make morsbags (www.morsbags.com) when I'm in a sewing mood. Must get back to making those too.

The bunting will be sold to raise funds for my disabled grandson's future care fund. He has a chromosome missing which means he will need everything doing for him for the rest of his life.

So I've always been involved in making things for other people!

I picked up some more sensory mats today, and have decorated one already this afternoon/evening. So another 1 to add to total, as I've used up some embellishments.
