    Klarna - Advisable? 14th Jun 19 at 12:05 PM
    Good afternoon all,

Im looking at buying a new phone as I have had mine for about 5 years now and its getting a bit knackered,
I want the Oneplus 7 Pro which is around 700 for the handset and I was going to use a 10 a month Sim to use with it as this works out much cheaper than a contract..

However, I cant really afford to spend 700 in one go and the Oneplus site has an option to pay through a Swedish bank called Klarna... this makes payments easier as it splits it into 3, paying 233 for 3 months...

Has anybody had experience with this method as Trustpilot only has a few reviews and Its a lot of money

I am also looking to buy a house within the next year or two so would this also affect any ratings I have?

    Thanks in advance!

    There's no problems with it.

It'll show up as a debt when lender search your files.

Thanks for the quick reply zx81! So as long as I make the 3 payments instantly with a direct bank transfer then it wont have any repercussions further down the line?

Brilliant, I think I have made up my mind then considering I do not have any credit cards or any other way of paying for it upfront other than in total then it looks like I will be doing this, just wasnt sure as I cant find many reviews about it online

The obvious question is do you NEED a 700 phone?

If you can't pay 700 up front for a phone then how will you manage with a mortgage?

When you own your own home and the boiler needs replacing and it'll cost thousands?

I understand what your saying Gary but surely you would say this to anybody with a phone contract? I could pay for it in one go but I'd rather spread it across a couple of months for the same price...

Admittedly, I have only been working for a few months after uni so my savings are growing slowly but not rapidly yet, I am paying out for rent, car, car insurance, tax etc etc, so I understand that sometimes you need to payout for unforseen scenarios but while I do not own a home, I do keep enough cash aside for these kinds of things (mainly car problems so far) so I don't see how this would be a problem, 233 for three months is plausible and then I only have to pay for a monthly SIM allowance, if I want to stop at any point I can rather than being tied down to a phone contract for 2 years at most

Absolutely I would say it to anybody.

Get a sub 20 (or even 10) per month SIM-only contract and a sub 150 smartphone.

    Job done.
