PPI refund 14th Jun 19 at 7:11 AM
    Hi,
I have just had a letter saying I am getting a PPI refund
Of just over £1000 they have deducted tax from the payment i donít earn enough to pay tax? I am also in receipt of Universal Credit will the DWP class this as income and reduce my payment or will it be classed as savings ?
Lastly do I have to inform DWP of this payment ?

    Thanks for any replies

Contact HMRC to get the tax refunded https://www.gov.uk/claim-tax-refund

I think this will be treated as capital. If your total capital remains below £6000 it will make no difference to your UC. However I can’t find anything specific in Advice to Decision Makers. Perhaps another poster will be able to find definite information.
