Brittany family surfing holiday recommendations 15th May 19 at 2:44 PM
Hi. Please can anyone suggest some good coastal towns\ villages in brittany for a family holiday. We are going to get the ferry to Roscoff with the car. Husband and son like to surf everyday. Mummy and toddler like sandy beaches. We'd love a picturesque town\village with little restaurants and cafes and shops and places to visit but not bothered about nightlife. Any ideas as my brain is addled by the research I've been doing Thank you

Sorry but I'm not into surfing but when you've chosen a venue I'd recommend you look at Brittany Ferry Holidays. They do ferry and accommodation packages which, from experience, are cheaper than buying them separately.

Intermediate. Don't need lessons but don't want huge 8 foot waves🤣

Carantec is a lovely location for a family holiday; it's just 15 minutes drive from Roscoff with some lovely beaches and some great place nearby to explore.

The large beach there is gorgeous but I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone surfing there. Might be worth a look though!

La Torche/ Treguennec , Bay of Audierne. Finistère is my favourite part of Brittany

I only know the area around St Brieuc. You won't get any surf round here.

Brehec is a family sand beach, it has two bar/cafe one of which is a family run hotel but there will be appartments/houses for rent also. There are other beaches nearby... the next one South is called plage Bonaparte, nice beach, and the next one Port Moguer.

The town of Paimpol is nearby for shops restaurants, the steam railway from Paimpol to Pontrieux is fun. Next town along is also worth a visit..Treguier for the buildings..Maison de Ernest Renan..

Also nearby Chateau de la Roche Jagu
    Temple de Lanleff
    Abbaye de Beauport
    Isle de Brehat

Further afield 1hour 30 mins is Mont St Michel
    1 hour is Saint Malo
    30 mins is Saint Brieuc
    1hour 30 is Chateau Rosanbo - worth a visit.

I think anywhere in Brittany will have nice beaches. For a chance of surf I would think you would have to go to the North / West coast. but doubtful in summer. Look for a cove which is facing directly out to the Atlantic with no land obstruction.

Goulien Near Crozon is rated on the surf site as good for begginers

    https://wannasurf.com/spot/Europe/France/index.html

Pointe de la Torche also rated.

Hopefully the information will help someone wanting a French holiday though.
