Party Wall Question Please 16th Apr 19 at 10:22 AM
    Hi

We have a double thickness garden wall between our house and next door. They have taken down one side of the wall and are planning on using these extra inches to build an extension on the side of their house.

    Can they do this please?

    Many thanks

Not really. They need a party wall agreement with you but but once it's done, it's done, so it's important to nip this in the bud right now and stop it.

Ironically, that wall could be used as the extension wall, which will benefit you both, ultimately as you both get the biggest extension you can by sharing the wall. They clearly haven't got a clue.

Speak to them. You are able to get your own surveyor and they pay the costs, but it's helpful to share. It doesn't help that your neighbours are clueless though.
