Options after Virgin Media promotion ends?

Options after Virgin Media promotion ends? 16th Apr 19 at 8:48 AM
My welcome offer 12 month promotional rate with Virgin Media is ending.

The price will be going up from 29 per month to 48 which is not good!

We currently have the Player Bundle:
    • Player TV (M) - just the basic channels as far as I can tell.
    • Internet - Vivid 100 Optical Fibre
    • Virgin Phone - line rental, free voicemail, Talk Weekends

Can we get a better deal elsewhere or from Virgin? Any tips?

So far we've been happy with the service, better than we had with TalkTalk previously.

We never use the phone line - don't even have one plugged in.

We do use the Virgin TV Box to watch live TV and record the odd show but only have the basic channels and never watch much else than BBC 1 & 2 and C4.

Our TV has a USB plug for recording stuff but we have no aerial of signal going into the TV that's independent from the Virgin Box.

We work from home and the internet is great though.

Ideally I'd like to keep paying 30 a month or less!

If we cancel with Virgin, is there a better or as good TV Box type option and internet service out there?

In our area, it looks like we can get:
    • BT
    • Plus Net
    • Direct Save
    • TalkTalk
    • Now
    • Shell
    • SSE
    • Post Office
    • One Stream
    • Sky

We're renting to don't think we could get a dish put up if that's a requirement for Sky/BT etc.

I would be quite keen on getting BT Sports for free if its part of any deal but only if it's free (or included for less than 30 per month).

For reference, I'm part way through a 12-month sim-only mobile contract with Virgin Mobile that's 8 per month for 4GB of data, but that is separate from the Virgin Media bill.

    Thanks!

Phone them up and say your deal is ending, I was paying x.yz, I can get this that and the other from somewhere else at a cheaper price but I'd rather stay with you. What can you do?

BT is max up to 72 meg for most areas .
BT Sport varying packages with BT /
( i have BT Max TV with Free BT Sport HD at a discounted 15 pm )+ Line Rental + BB /
Move and you lose the VM box .
Work from home then you really need a Business Service if continual uptime matters.

If I go with Virgin Media Business, would the business 'feed' be more reliable?

It looks more expensive so probably not viable at the moment.

I haven't had have any problems with downtime with Virgin Media.

Business would be service level agreements .

Running a business on a home service may be against the terms .
Feed no basically the same feed .

On a consumer level agreement you'll have practically no recompense at all whereas a business contract would have you up and running again as fast as possible.

Sorry, should've been clearer. The contract is about to end/has just ended.
That is lucky. New customers are normally on an 18m contract, with 12m discount.
This is too much hassle/cost to get out of

I would've been happy with 18 months at 29 instead of 12 to be honest!

you can try this like me.

Dear sir/madam SAVE EVERYONE ON CABLE 480 A YEAR.

Virgin media holding people to ransom because they are cable and might take up to 4 weeks to transfer telephone number, plus the house must have a bt socket. I paid 70 a month for TV and 100mb broadband NO TV BOX , I was sick of share holders.so last night I went to virgin media special offer 29 a month for telephone and broadband ,for new customers only ,to hell with that I said I'm not under contract and I don't have to pay exit fee or give 30 days notice. PLEASE NOTE PEOPLE ARE ONLY UNDER CONTRACT WHEN THEY FIRST JOIN FOR 1 YEAR OR 18 MONTHS MAX.

So I filled in the form bank details etc through MSE as a NEW CUSTOMER it all went through nice at the end it said our engineer will install the new superhub 3 on may 3rd 2019.then I phoned virgin media disconnect team and told them I'm leaving on the 2nd of may ,I was honest and told them what I have done the guy says but you cant your a existing customer , I TOLD HIM LISTEN I DONT HAVE A CONTRACT I DONT HAVE TO GIVE YOU 30 DAYS NOTICE I INCUR NO PENALTY FEE FOR LEAVING. Oh he said hang on to I speak to supervisor 3 mins later oh sorry you are right you can also keep YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS.

I NOW SAVE 40 POUNDS A MONTH " 480 " A YEAR YEHAAAAAAAAAAAA and next year ill do it again.

Please TELL EVERY ONE MY STORY AND SAVE THEM 480 A YEAR ,GONE ARE VIRGIN RIPOFFS.
