    Veganuary 12th Jan 19 at 9:27 PM
Is anybody staying vegan this month?

I eat more and more vegan food more by accident than design. Tonight I cooked vegan 'lemon chilli chicken style' strips with mushrooms and onions and noodles.

I'm vegetarian, wife is carniverous but enjoyed it too.

Would you try vegan food, or would you not touch it with a bargepole?

Today's paper has a vegan food supplement - I'll have a look. Don't mind the odd meal if it's not too much faff.
Might have to add the word "veganuary" to the what's irritating you thread, though.

Btw, where has flexitarian come from as a thing?
Didn't someone who'd eat whatever was around used to just be called an omnivore?

    Googled it for you.
Your poll would appear to need flexitarian and omnivore. My head hurts.

Can't change poll options once published ... sorry.
Nearest would seem to be other / option not listed.

Interesting and helpful link - thank you.

I don't choose to be vegan, vegetarian or any other option

I choose to eat tasty food and if thats a bacon sandwich, chickpea curry, or steak and salad, Ill eat it
if you lend someone £20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it

I am reminded of the 1970s classic 'January' by the pop group 'Pilot'

I was vegan for a few months last year but couldn’t seem to combine it with also being low carbohydrate (ketogenic). Most plant based food is fairly high in carbs.

So now I have reintroduced eggs and fish, but not dairy - as I seem to have a mild intolerance to milk products.

Lunch might be omelette with salad with an evening meal of fish and green vegetables. I don’t have potatoes or bread.

I also time restrict my eating (intermittent fasting) and don’t have breakfast.

I have lost about 50 pounds since September following this method of eating and now have a BMI in the “healthy” range.

I eat eggs and dairy, tempted with fish exactly because of what you said - protein without the carbs. My personal 'jury' is still out on that one, but health needs may prevail.

50 pounds since September is pretty impressive - well done!

I'm an omnivore but sometimes I'll go ages without eating any meat, it just depends what I fancy to eat.

I couldn't go veggie or vegan as I have a digestive issue that means I struggle with a lot of veg, as in, I can't digest it very well

I wouldn't say I would never eat a meat substitute but I've yet to find one that I like.
