    BA deals

    2. BA website yes. You book with BA Holidays. Any flight + car, flight + hotel etc. throws in free luggage for each person. I find that adding a car will very commonly (not always) actually lower the price!

Regarding car insurance, all the major US chains have free car insurance at $0 deductible. BA uses Avis which is most definately full insurance, $0 deductible. So if I damage the car, no charge!

    3. You can do custom trips. We actually flew into SLC (LHR to SEA (BA), SEA to SLC (Alaska Airlines) and then LAS to PHI (AA), PHI to LHR (AA) back) and did the Grand Circle first (Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Bryce, Zion etc.) before ending with 5 nights in Vegas (3 in Tropicana, 2 in Golden Nugget).

I'm also not getting the car at the same price as flight only, but rather about 200 or so more, and even more than that if I've already selected flight without luggage.

I'm not quite sure, but the Avios earned also looks lower. I'll keep messing about with different options to see if anything good appears.

The flights and hotels prices dont seem to gave gone up in price just the cost of being in vegas.

My wife and daughter have each been offered 4 comp nights at Bellagio each with freeplay and F&B credit so im now thinking of going again in September
Seems i didnt spend enough lol

Thanks for the info. Our last trip was 12 months ago and the next in a couple of weeks. The reason I asked is having seen people refer to their last5 trip, then finding out it was about 5 years ago!

We have 2 comp nights at the Bellagio via MyVegas and the only cash we will be spending there is the resort fees as we also have the comp buffets.

Despite having a one bedroom suite complete with full ktichen for the past 10 years, we have never done a supermarket run as we like eating out in Vegas. However we are intending doing one this year using Lyft or Uber.

We had been intending going to Walmart on Tropicana, but our Concierge said that Vons is closest. Has anyone been to both or can advise why Walmart is better?

I would also welcome any suggestions of stuff to buy there, in particular meds, cold remedies, etc.

    TIA

Re the BA sale in particular booking a flight + car or hotel to lower the price.

I had been holding off booking our next flight for Dec due to the prices from Man being much higher than in previous years. I had been searching for months and prices consistently in excess 500 so with bags around 600 with BA or AA. The last 3 years we had paid less than 400.

So I played around with the sale and finally booked Man-Las via Lhr economy going out, premium return plus 9 days car rental thrown in inc luggage. 1200 for two. So by booking a flight and car worked out well on this occasion.

I will definately try the combo out in future to lower the price.

I would definitely go to Walmart, especially if you want to stock up on things like water. You can get giant packs of small bottles pretty cheaply, and snacks, etc. But, it's just a lot of fun to wander around.
I always get a few gifts for the family when I go there, as they do a lot of decent clothing (it's basically ASDA George stuff but cheaper), but they do Disney stuff - my Mam LOVES Disney nighties with things like Eyeore and co on them as they are really comfy (she's easily pleased) I can't help with medicines as we never bother buying them, but we also stop by the sweetie aisle and stock up on Lemonheads
Even the toiletries section is a right laugh - look out for the really giant bottles of mouthwash, and you can get multipacks of roll on's for quite a bit cheaper than over here. It's hilarious going round saying 'that's about 3 quid cheaper than back home', and realising that it's cost a fortune to get there in the first place.
It's just one of those where yep, it's a supermarket, but it's a brilliant experience. And they pack your shopping for you as well.
So, just go and have a look. Just don't get too carried away.

Thanks SO much dontone! Think you have made my mind up.

Water is definitely not on the shopping list as I am happy to drink tap water. However can you get beers there or does it have to be a liquor store? Is there one nearby? OH usually goes through 20-30 in the 2 weeks we are there.

I hate, abhor and detest shopping of any sort, unlike the OH, but can tolerate it on holiday so I get all my clothes in Vegas. Many moons ago, I spent hours in K-Mart in Orlando for the very reasons you mention. I was fascinated by stuff we just didn't get over here.

The plan at the moment is to go there as soon as we have checked into the hotel, which is not many people's idea of a Saturday night in Vegas! As we intend to spend a few hours there, I'm not sure how it will pan out with the jetlag.

As mentioned previously the WalMart on Tropicana Blvd is good. Was there < 2 weeks ago. 700ml bottle of Bourbon was < $9!!! They sell beer, albeit a limited selection.

We stocked up on bottled water (~ $4 for 40 bottles of Arrowhead) and some sodas you cannot get here like decent tasting Dr Pepper!

We went clothes shopping in the North Outlet Mall, spent around 300 between us!!!

Vons is part of Safeway. I consider Vons/Safeway to be on par with Sainsburys compared to WalMart (obviously being Asda). Prices and quality of products are reflected in that.

It was only a few extra minutes drive to WalMart. I'd recommend WalMart personally.

wouldnt say it was limited beer selction in Wal-Mart.....
U get the packs + small packs of beers, all nice and chilled in the fridges ..

I grabbed one of those polystyrene cool boxes last year (think it cost about $3) , wedged it into the sink when in Mandalay Bay, kept quite a few drinks cold ! Only downside to that, was our room was at the end of the corridor, long walk from the ice-machine!

Forget Von's, its OK, and sell's same as, just not as much as.... wal-mart better.
I hit Von's, as they do different BBQ sauce & rub brands compared to Wal-mart, but saying that, any large super-market place we stop at sometimes, just to look around!

My best buy to-date from Wal-Mart = Makers 46 (Bourbon). Got it 3 years ago for $33 , its a nice drink!

Not long to go now before my flight, wooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo !!!!!

I been watching 'Slot Lady' on Youtube , i got the "i wanna win big" bug !! haha ! Fingers crossed!

Thanks both. We've now decided to go to Walmart as originally planned based on the replies here.

OH usually gets 20 cans of beer from the Last Stop shop just up from Polo Towers then we need to top up in the last few days as he can't carry 30 cans back to the hotel.

Already have in mind to get Lucky Charms for me, Special K for hubby (as he says it tastes like ours did before they changed the recipe) and corn dogs.

Not long for us either Stuie. Think we are there the same time as you.

I will start the shopping list in earnest when we get back from our imminent holiday which starts tomorrow.

Keep the suggestions coming for things to buy.

Cheong's offers = not all that good (they are kickback offers)

Mlife Offers = Go with the option that works, and when you get to check-in, try your luck with a $20 sandwich for the upgrade along with some cheek ! You got nothing to lose!
Worst case, if they say they cant do nowt, just offer $10 per night to upgrade from the westwing, might work!

    Trip Report, May 2019
    Trip Report, May 2019

Nights: 16 (of which 5 were in Vegas)
Plan: The "Grand Circle" ending in Vegas
Notes: Our 3rd time in Vegas!

    Flights

19th April, LHR to SEA - BA Economy
19th April, SEA to SLC - Alaska Airlines Economy (BA codeshare)

5th May, LAS to PHI - AA Main Cabin (BA codeshare)
5th May, PHI to LHR - AA Main Cabin Extra (BA codeshare)

I wouldn't recommend flying into SLC unless you want to see the sights / save some cash for the grand circle. It was much cheaper than a return to Las Vegas!

    Car

We did a BA Holiday (flight + car + hotel) so this was included.

I booked a group D... but was instead given a Mitsubishi Outlander which was great for traversing the national parks!

    Pre-Vegas

Pre-Vegas I saw the following places (in order):

    Salt Lake City
    Capitol Reef National Park
    Arches National Park
    Canyonlands National Park
    Mesa Verde National Park
    Vally of the Gods
    Monument Valley
    Glen Canyon Damn
    Horseshoe Bend
    Bryce National Park
    Zion National Park

    Vegas!

We planned our route so we could spend a few days chilling in Vegas at the end of our trip! All 5 nights were added onto our BA Holiday (which was the flights, car + 5 nights for a total of 1,818.44 for 2 people!).

30th April for 3 nights: Tropicana

I quite enjoyed Tropicana. Yes it was quite far from the "action" but it was only around $5 for a Lyft to the Linq! I found it easier to get a drink playing games here, even if I didn't do too well here!

The pool was quite nice to look at, but absolutely freezing to go into! They say it's heated... but you can say anything!

They gave us a free cookie each on check-in when we gave them my wife's Silver status number. No points were accumulated for the trip though.

3rd May for 2 nights: Golden Nugget

The last time I stayed downtown was in Four Queens which was quite noisy. This time, despite staying on a Friday / Saturday night, it was very quiet! I think the windows were just generally thicker which was nice!

    The rooms looked great!

The pool was awesome, I went down the slide a few times... even if I said I wouldn't do it again after the first time!

There are some blackjack tables near the pool, but $10 minimum so I blew $100 quickly and didn't go back!

I did manage to come up a few hundred dollars up overall, mainly thanks to Golden Nugget Roulette & Blackjack at the Four Queens!

    Shows

    'O' by Cirque du Soleil

We had only booked 'O' by Cirque du Soleil before going out but wanted to get some Magic / Comedy show tickets while out there!

The first show we saw was 'O' on the 1st May! Personally I didn't quite like it as much as some other Cirque du Soleil shows and it looked very similar to a show I've seen previously in Macau (The House of Dancing Water).

The other shows we booked were all thanks to The American Casino Guide. This guide cost us ~ 13 on Amazon and is packed full of coupons!

    Mac King

We used the "Buy two drinks, get two free tickets to watch Mac King" at Harrah's!

    Mike Hammer

We also used the "Buy one, get one free ticket for Mike Hammer" at the Four Queens.

I loved both shows, having seen both of them on TV (Penn & Teller's fool us) it was great to see their shows in person!

    Food

Everyone knows there are a variety of Buffets available in Vegas!

    Seasons Buffet, Silverton

We went to the Silverton Buffet twice! We were going to use the coupon from the American Casino Guide, but if you signed up to their loyalty scheme, you get a 50% off coupon! So we both signed up on separate days!

This was my favourite buffet I went to on this trip!

    AYCE Buffet, Palms

We had lunch at the AYCE buffet which is located in the Palms. This was very nice. It certainly looked posher than the Silverton but the range of food wasn't as good for me! We used a 2-4-1 coupon from the American Casino Guide.

    Paradise Buffet, Freemont

After checking in early to the Golden Nugget on the Friday we had lunch at the Freemont Hotel. It was dirt cheap with the 2-4-1 coupon from the American Casino Guide!!!

    Other notable food options

We both had the Prime Rib Special at Magnolias, inside the Four Queens, again using a 2-4-1 coupon from the American Casino Guide.

There is now an In-N-Out burger located outside the Linq. In-N-Out Burger is my favourite fast food burger ever!

    Final Thoughts

Don't worry if you're "too far" from the Strip. Uber/Lyft is incredibly cheap and you can save tonnes more in hotel costs not staying there!

Get the American Casino Guide, it's full of coupons!

Great report, we dont see as many as we used to !!
That In n Out burger! mmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !! I am sooooooooooo stopping at in n out next week !!!

@Bobby, if u use a comp, whether it be a corp Mlife offer or a myvegas, u gotta leave 3 days between offers....
3night bellagio on myvegas ?? thats the golden egg thing u read about, but doesnt exist...
    5500 LP's would just about get u a 2-4-1 on a Luxor breakfast!
2nt comp on myvegas in bellagio in prime season ? good luck with that !!

If u have any kind of offer at the moment for 4 nights, and it includes fri/sat , use that and maybe look at other hotel websites for the best room rate u can buy for another hotel (excal / hooters, etc), or bite bullet and stay in your mlife comp'd hotel... (and then combine bookin at checkin, so u dont have to move out of the room)

Resort credit = u bill all to your room, and on check-out, if u spent less than 100, nothing to pay, if u spent more, u pay difference...
Freeplay is loaded on your mlife card... pick a slot, press the OK button, enter your pin, choose option 1 or 2 (cant remember which) for Freeplay option...
U load in $100 for example, press Max spin (ok, 50c or whatever ) , and when u spin and it takes your money, the freeplay credits it back....
    job done!

Solo trip = ultimate freedom to do as u please!

Your flight - that be the LGW/LHR direct to LAS right ? hand luggage only ( i hope you know that already <airport and bag> !!)
and your comp, if that covers the wed-sun , happy days, the remaining nights in theory, shouldnt cost too much

    @stephen
As above, great report ! Where did you host your photos ? i am hoping to do a trip report for my trip....

    Greetings from Rhodes!

Great report Steven! Thanks for the photos. I can never be bothered with the faff of hosting them before uploading.

In n' Out Burger opened on the Linq Promenade 2016/2017. I don't like burgers, but love theirs.

16 days till we're back. We are actually staying a night at the Golden Nugget for the first time. Managed to get a Corner Junior Suite for a third of what it costs now. A few days later it had gone up to normal price. Not convinced we will get the room till I'm actually checked in, even though I've emailed and confirmed it.

As for MyVegas room comps, we each had a 2 night comp at the Vdara last year in June. As luck would have it, it was available for our last 4 nights so we moved hotels rather than keeping our "home base" room on. This year we have 1 night each at the Bellagio.

Hi everyone, on Travelzoo right now for LasVegas, you can get a 20 dollar prepaid card for 10.00. It comes in the form of a prepaid Amex for use in Caesars palace. It’s a promo by the Simon group and I always get one when the offer is on. Normally its Miracle mile shops but this time it’s the forum shops in Caesars palace. Cards run out in Dec

Thanks for the heads up about the Travelzoo offer. In all our trips to Vegas, I've never seen one of those card offers. I did get a $20 CVS gift card for $10 a couple of years ago from a targetted Groupon offer, but had a right faff using it as the woman said I needed a CVS loyalty card to use it.

I have bought Tenors of Rock and the Mob Museum from TZ for our upcoming trip.

Do you know if there are any restrictions? It's not that I'm too lazy to look, but I've been struggling to get wifi here and now I have it, I'm struggling to see the screen for the glare.

I don't think I've ever bought anything at the Forum Shops, but we go to The Palm restaurant for lunch quite a lot.

Yea, it posted at the 5th attempt! And I don't know why it's putting in 2 blank lines between paragraphs when I'm only putting in one (now edited)
Edit - I have now looked at TZ and see both The Palm and Cheesecake Factory listed. Does anyone know if the voucher is resricted to merchandise only or if restaurants are included?
