Has this red light camera caught me? 13th Oct 18 at 1:55 PM
Hi. I was wondering whether a Speedcurb dual speed/red light camera can catch you if you're facing it (ie, whether it can catch you head on or not). Today, I was going through a junction with a speedcurb camera on the other side of the road (facing me). I wasn't speeding, in fact i was probably 4mph below the limit, but the lights changed from green to amber whilst I was in the middle of the junction (past the stop line). The lights may have changed from amber to red just as I was leaving the junction, and I wasn't flashed but it was broad daylight. I was just wondering whether I could be fined for that? If it helps, this is in Kingston upon Thames in Greater London. Thank you.

If your entire vehicle was beyond the stop line when the lights changed to red, you'll be fine. If there's a chance it wasn't, you'll just have to wait and see if anything arrives in the post. A good opportunity to make sure your address details are correct on your car registration document and licence.

Thanks, but does it matter that I was facing the speedcurb directly? Do you know if speedcurb can only take prosecutable images from the rear or can they do it both ways?

I think they’re rear-facing and triggered by sensors in the road. If it was facing you, you weren’t running over its sensors because they’d be on the other carriageway. If there’s another in your lane facing your rear, you may have been caught by that one.
