External blue ray writer 30th Sep 18 at 3:16 PM
Suggestions as external blue ray drives seem rather expensive.
Plan to purchase some blue ray movies from amazon.
Burn them via i3 laptop to writer.disx and transfer them to Apple 4k t.v.
    Usb3 preferably -choice seems limited.
Maybe I could avoid the higher cost drive from 80 etc.

Why are you using a hub? Plug the drive directly into the computer. It will likely work. Windows will have the required drivers built in.

A powered usb hub could provide anough power to allow discs to spin correctly..

Sometimes laptops don't provide enough power via usb -unlike desktops
I ran a similar powered usb hub
setup with a macbook/AirPort Extreme/ external HDD which worked.

The previous Advent 7 ports usb hub I had used quotes:-
It is powered by a 5 V adaptor which helps to provide extra power, making it ideal for charging your hardware and mobiles via US

find a usb port on your computer which has the flash symbol (looks like a lightning bolt) this port will provide more current than a standard one. otherwise find a usb 'y' cable you can use, I hate usb powered devices they are a pain.

Amazon has usb2 Y cable -though 30mm -laptop is approx 33mm between sockets each side.
Though for 5 approx it's worth a shot.
Meanwhile I seen a few secs of Spiderman Skystore DVD -though my writer is certainly dropping from device manager and media players when dvd's are inserted.

This is when I don;t have any DVD inserted

If you want to obtain one more quickly, buy a caddy that is supplied with one, that posts from the UK; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-2-0-External-2-5-SATA-HDD-Enclosure-Aluminum-Case-Caddy-Red-Hard-Drive/262863361564

Check with the vendor before purchase, that it is supplied with a USB 2.0 A Male to One Mini-B Male Y-Cable.

Probably best you start again. Cancel all that you have purchased and then select a UK seller from the options I have posted, reading carefully the caveats in the relevant post before ordering.
