"urgent" charge certificate from barnet 15th Sep 18 at 2:47 PM
We received a charge certificate for a PCN dated 20 July related to a contravention dated 13th july. We were out of the country from 15th July till 31st August and there was no way we could have had access to our post box. Therefore we became aware of this PCN only on 1st September after we came back to the country and opened the letter box. All the appeal process was over so we now have a total amount of 195 to pay or go to court. We wrote an email to Barnet stating that we were out of the country from 15 July-31 august, we were not even aware of the PCN and that we are willing to pay the initial PCN of 65. But they wrote back saying there is no formal right of appeal after the charge certificate is issued and we have to pay full 195. I find this totally unfair. What should we do?

    council or private ?
    Newbies !!
Private Parking ticket? check the 2 sticky threads by coupon-mad and crabman in the Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking Board forum for the latest advice or maybe try pepipoo or C.A.G. or legal beagles forums if you need legal advice as well because this parking forum is not about debt collectors or legal matters per se

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work) and post a new thread; here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.

Also, frequent blogger and fighter of council parking tickets, Mr Mustard, is very prominent in hitting Barnet where it hurts. Read his blog site and think about whether he might be able to help.
Please note, we are not a legal, residential or credit advice forum, rather one that helps motorists fight private parking charges, primarily at the 'front-end' of the process.
