What small DFW things will you do w/c 10th September? 10th Sep 18 at 6:58 AM
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!

    Evening all,

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Ally, I hope you have a lovely holiday.
Dnms, hope work went ok for you today.
CCl , you have so much change going on at the moment, I think you're doing amazing well.
Datlax, I enjoy shredding! find it quite theraputic!
Baileysbabe, hope you had a nice time
    Pf, you've been busy!
Foxgloves, hoping the hospital visit went ok.

    Not much done today -
Was my nieces birthday lunch, gifts had mainly been bought in the jan sales, reused wrapping paper and paid for meal using Mr T vouchers
It was a big lunch so just had cheese, crackers and fruit tonight.
Ordered something from sportsdir3ct (was cheaper then the instore price), also went through dh's work cashback site.
Took fabric off our footstool (as it didn't go with our rug which we'd got from my folks) we'd recovered it years ago and couldn't remember what we'd covered.. well anyway after unpicking it we've found that the colour underneath is the right kind of colour to go with the new (to us) rug

    Thats aboug it.

    Take care all.

    Hey all

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend?

Moneysaving here has been down to my managing to fit in 2 overtime shifts this week!! I'm pleased that I got through it all, but I don't think I'll try and fit in that many into one week again. Also ended up getting a costa coffee midway through today as was a tad exhausted

    Anyway, tomorrows plans:
    • Somehow got roped in to run a 10k with a friend
    • Go to a local food festival for lunch - at least I will have earned that
    • Update spreadsheets
    • Collect online shopping and healthy food all from stores
    • Collapse in a heap on the sofa for the rest of the day - maybe do some crochet

Total debts 6471.03 / 6261 all currently on 0% interest
    Make 2018 in 2018 = 1010
    Focus on 1% challenge = 64.50

    Morning Money Savers,
The simplest of days planned for here today:
*mr f has volunteered for grocery shopping - small list this week, as eating through freezer stores.
*Free exercise starting autumn garden clearing.
    *Gather more windfall apples.
    *Pick more chillies.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Try to finish knitting my handwarmers.
*Bath & hairwash - am using up various odds & ends of products.
*Synchronise our diaries & write my job list for tomorrow.
*Load washer for overnight laundry on cheap tariff.
I just need an uneventful 'normal' day.
    F x
Money can't jump out of your purse on its own so ask 'Can I borrow one, make one, grow one, bake one, re-purpose or recycle, acquire it for free?' Yes? Then put that purse away & keep your money because little savings grow!
    Loan pay-down fund instalment 2 = 470-01
    Payment received from surveys: 2015 = 320 2016 = 210 2017 = 304 2018 = 358

I'm not sure what time my parents plan on leaving. Depending on when will make a difference to my plans. I'm happy with whatever works best for them. Hopefully, they will stay for lunch at least.

Hope everyone is well. Not long till hols now Ally
Had a nice catch up with my bestie yesterday, but still feeling down. I wish there were some sort of quick fix (don't we all). Hope everyone else is doing ok.
I've been up a couple of hours chopping veggies. I'm going to batch cook this afternoon! Nothing fancy, just some soup and Shepherd's pie but it'll make a difference during the week after work. I'm trying to psyche myself up to make chutney as well but we shall see.
Tutoring in an hour and then off to my mam's for a bit - I haven't seen her for a while so it'll be nice to catch up and find out how her hols in Jersey went.
Have a good day all - and lots of love and hugs to those that need them xxx

    Morning all,

The weather here is grim this morning, makes me just want to curl up on the sofa and snooze!

We are popping out to Sainsbugs to spend the last 8 off a 40 shop voucher. Going to buy another gaming headset (this time for ds2) he's been saving up for it but doesn't actually get given his pocket money until the month end, this voucher would be out of date by then so we've agreed that he can have them early. Will also pick up some bread rolls for tomorrows lunches. a loaf for the freezer and maybe some coffee for dh as we've seen its on offer on mysupermarket app. Done and had ds1 keeping an eye on how much was going into the basket so that we didn't go far over the 40

We aren't having family over for lunch today as we saw them all yesterday so a nice quiet day is planned.
    Ys bread for breakfasts done
Soup & bread for lunch done had with warm rolls
Tonight will be a use up tea, jacket potato, lots of salad + whatever is left in the fridge, gammon/eggs/cheese etc
Check homeworks are completed, I'm 99% sure they are. done
Make families lunches for school/work done
Continue sorting out our cupboards and adding to the cs pile done, and took a bag of outgrown pajamas to the Oxfam box in the sainsbugs carpark so they're gone and out of the way. Started a new cs bag and added in a nowtv box, a couple of books and some kids dvds
Tv/Alarm clocks/microwaves/oven etc all switched off at the socket when not in use done
Prep next weeks Rm surveys and put details on the calendar so that I remember to do them! Not done but will do tomorrow
Continue watching Dr who with ds2 on iplayer, he's really enjoying it and wants to see them all before the new dr starts next month. (I think he'll have to skip all the Peter Capaldi ones as a)he won't have enough time and b) I didn't really enjoy those episodes anyway Dh & ds2 watching one now

Thats my starter, hopefully I'll add more as the day goes on

    Have a good day all.

Ally - have a fab holiday

    Hello lpp

Back in work today but I seem to have run myself ragged over the weekend. I'm completely shattered. Even the soles of my feet hurt
The garden has been tidied up a bit, as has the house. I've managed to put all the clean washing away (even the household linens) and I did a mega load of vegetable sorting out so that it's all prepped/cooked for through the week and beyond.

OH at a wedding fair today so hopefully will drum up some work.

Weather here is pretty grim too but at least I'm in work!

    Today's list:

    • B/L/D from stores
    • Made a packed lunch for OH so he doesn't need food at the wedding fair - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Ask OH to run hoover over the main drag as he didn't do any last week
    • Send question to raveler re glove pattern. The thumb seems very small - the gauge is 12st per 4" (so 3 st per 1") and the thumb is skip 6 st - so only 2" circumference. This would be pretty tight on me and it's supposed to be a large men's glove. - done
    • Continue glove
    • Reconcile budget sheet - no outstanding transactions!
    Have a good one all

    Afternoon all

Got back yesterday from a few days away by the sea in our camper van
Kept the faith, took most food with us and main spend was the camp site, now off-peak season so a bit cheaper.
Car booting this morning, and only spend apart from business ones was 1.50 for a plant
Asked OH to do the shopping, he mainly stuck to the (small) list. Must find receipt and record spends. I will need a couple of things from the pound-ish shops in town (cheaper than the SM) tomorrow, but to be honest we have a lot of food in.
Bit of gardening done, took out French beans, which had more or less gone over, and certainly didn't look attractive - found enough on there for dinner though!
OH has kindly gone to the tip with the plants, which were huge, and the compost heap is already full. He took some rose prunings and hedge cuttings from the other day as well
I have spent most of the afternoon cleaning brass, copper and silver plate for my sales unit (not my favourite job, but it is the time of the year when brass and copper items are most likely to sell, and I have a few, so best get them out there!)

Picked quinces, tomatoes, raspberries, carrots, squashes and a courgette
    Watered seedlings
Dinner to cook soon, plenty of vegetables to go with the small YS pork joint I found in the freezer

    ^^ all a bit strange!!

I've had a frustrating afternoon trying to sort a problem with a new bit of tech which should have been a quick and easy, plug and play Still not got it sorted but have emailed for support and am now determined not to let it waste anymore of my Sunday and wait for a response within 72 hrs.

Dh could see how I was so has taken over the cooking of our tea (and replaced it with cooking chips for a chip and coleslaw butty)
