New plan...time to see some movement! 23rd Aug 18 at 4:29 PM
    Hello!

I've decided it's time for a new diary. I've been doing a lot of thinking recently and have come up with a new plan.

My debt is all at 0% on my DMP and is just clearing, albeit very slowly at 1 a month. This will increase when little miss gets her free hours at nursery next year.

Our mortgage is 118,511 and the only interest bearing debt, on a tracker rate so vulnerable to interest rate rises. I'm very happy with the rate though, and we can make unlimited overpayments, so for the time being, not looking to fix.

I still need to pay back 2400 for my car.

We need to start doing some of the work to the house that we've been putting off for years. So we need to get saving for that before it gets to a stage where we have no choice but to do the work as an emergency.

My new plan therefore is that I am going to let the DMP run itself, focus on paying back the car, the mortgage and saving for the house work. I will be trying to build the emergency fund/F&F fund, so that if my creditors offer a settlement I will hopefully be able to take advantage.

I hope that by changing my focus I will keep my motivation rather than getting fed up about not seeing any progress towards my debts. The mortgage will go down regardless of whether I manage to make overpayments, and hopefully the savings will increase!

Great amount of sales. I never seem to have much luck on the fb groups either. Did a car boot a while ago, made about 150 and dropped the rest at the charity shop on the way home. I am planning another sort out, to see what we could sell.

Yum to the lardy cake! Never attempted my own, but love to eat it

Your sales are really awesome! Well done for sticking at it! I seem to sell things in dribs and drabs - we don't have a massive amount to get rid of to be honest, but I'd like our place to be leaner before Christmas (and my son't birthday which is the week before) so maybe I should start the big toy clear out sooner rather than later!

    HI jwil

Just caught up on your diary. You put me to shame with all your sales and car boot sales! You are doing a fantastic job. Just think September, October, November and December are the busiest times for ebay so brace yourself for a busy time.

I think it feels amazing when the clutter starts to reduce and the cash comes in.

When I have some time I am going to make myself a cup of coffee and find your old diary, as I think it will be such a good read.

Take care and have a wonderful day.

It's been a while since I've been on. I had another crazy busy week at work last week, with long days so no time to get on here.

Still some sales trickling in, a few annoying buyers I've had some back and forth with ebay CS about a case which was wrongly opened, closed in my favour and then they sent a refund to the buyer saying I had promised a refund and hadn't provided it. I contacted them again, and it has once again been closed in my favour. A couple of non-payers too. It's a complete pain sometimes!

Not much else to report really. We didn't sell this weekend. I did parkrun again and was aching so much I didn't do a lot else for the rest of the weekend

Hoping that we can get back into a bit of a routine again now that school is back and these meetings are over for a while.

    Hope everyone is well

Made a small pad of 1.72 to the mortgage today. Also cashed in 2 amazon from a survey site.

I don't seem to be doing much at the moment!

Another load of parcels went this morning, just one of mine.

I've received a 5 love to shop voucher this morning from RM. That will go towards something for little miss's birthday or Christmas I expect.

I've applied for and got the code for 30 free hours nursery, it won't be valid until January, but my nursery said to get the application in sooner rather than later as they only have limited places.

Trying to catch up on surveys. I'm close to cashing out on a few, and it's hard work trying to get there!

A few more items sold overnight, so another 9 parcels posted today

Although it's dry, we didn't feel like car booting today, so instead have pulled everything out and gone through it all. We've sent a load of stuff to charity, another load to bin/recycling centre and not far off halved what was in the van The kids think that going to the recycling centre and posting all our plastic in the banks is the funnest thing in the world so they were happy

DH bought me some flowers yesterday and I was fed up with not having anywhere to put them. So I've cleared and cleaned the top of the unit in the front room and have now got somewhere to display stuff (as long as it stays clear!). It looks much better.

    Slow progress but still progress!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Isn't it amazing the difference a clear surface makes?

We had a busy day yesterday, went car booting in the morning, I bought the kids some clothes, then we took them up to the Gromit Round Up where they have all the statues together. The kids loved it. We then popped in to see my sister and her family, so they enjoyed playing with their cousins.

I'm struggling at the moment, feeling down and overwhelmed by everything again. I think I'm just tired. I've lost my motivation again. I'm sure it will be back soon, once I can catch up on a few things.

    Hope everyone is well.

I'm sorry you feel overwhelmed at the moment. I'm feeling that way too. New implant and the kids being back at school- new routine and they are sooo grumpy. And I'm so tired. It will pass. Things will settle down. And I think part of it for you is that you've made so much progress - you don't need to maintain that momentum. And remember we are waiting for your creditors to get bored of waiting for money. That's a hard thing to feel determined about.
You're doing brilliantly jwil. You put me to shame. You do way more than I do - park run, constant post office and car boot runs, always doing lovely things with your kids, always making over payments to your mortgage and saving pots and NEVER GIVING UP! You're golden jwil. You'll be back up again soon. I know it.
