avios value rule of thumb? 11th Aug 18 at 12:52 PM
I see lots of deals and discounts involving avios, is there any quick rule to determine if they are worth using avios for? I paid a £90 flight with 9000 avios, so I figure any offer that gives less than 1p per avio is not a good deal - but asking here to hear other peopleís views.

It is a personal valuation rather than a rule.

Head For Points has an excellent article which explains the values and how you can work out what the value to you is.

Unfortunately it looks like the site is down at the moment.

I often see the figure of 1p/Avios mentioned although as theonlywayisup says, it really depends on your circumstances. Perhaps your flying pattern is such that you can routinely get much better value than that.

Summer school holiday flights 2019 redemptions are available now, some of these flights have high starting prices in £, so Avios spending on these can be well worth it, if you need to fly in school holidays.

For the past couple of years we have used Avios during summer hols very good value & the £35 fee includes hold luggage
Private Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA

Always look at booking two one ways rather than a return. You can save a few quid in Spain and the canaries doing this as the return taxes are lower from there.

Avios flights are great value if you have to fly at peak times/school holidays.
We have used them for July and August for the last few years.
