Paris for half a night 10th Aug 18 at 6:45 PM
Have a male student relative that will get to Gare du Lyon Paris at approx. 00:30 and will then be leaving on the first Eurostar for London at around 06:30.

Anyone have any ideas on where to stay/sleep for the 4/5hrs between connections?
    Thanks

Hotels near Gare Du Lyon, in reality, maybe the station would just be a better bet and then sleep on the train?

Sort by distance and Terminus Lyon comes up.

Ive offered to pay for a hotel after he said hed sleep at Gare du Nord. Hes worried about getting to a hotel so late at night then back to the Eurostar for 6am not to mention over sleeping and missing the train.

Anyone have any advice on sleeping at Gare du Nord/Lyon ie safety or rules about being moved on/kicked out?
    Thanks

I would be inclined to book a hotel near Gare du Nord rather than Gare du Lyon, much better to be next door to your departure point the next morning that your arrival point the night before, especially as the metro doesn't start until 5.30am, which will be too late.

There are A LOT of people sleeping rough in Paris, it's now feeling very unsafe, even more so at night, I wouldn't be happy for any relative of mine to be spending a night on the street, tell him to do the sensible thing, get a room and set an alarm, or several if necessary.

If this is a 0630 train he will be checking in at about 0530.

Wherever he sleeps make sure he sets alarms on his watch and phone !
Never pay on an estimated bill

I think I would prefer to stay awake and sleep on the train. Getting up after a only few hours I would feel terrible and concerned about sleeping through an alarm.

There are some 24 hour cafes and restaurants in Paris. Here are some near Gare du nord
    10me arrondissement

    Le Zorba
137 Rue du Faubourg du Temple, 75010

    Brasserie La Maison Blanche
    21 Rue de Dunkerque, 75010

    Les Petits Tonneaux R!publique
17 rue du faubourg du temple, 75010
    01 42 45 90 56

Take a book, have a coffee or two and something to eat maybe and there are only three or four hours to kill before you need to be at the station.

The Eurostar station will be busy all night and there will be cafes open. He will also need/be able to check in for his train up to 90 mins before so .....
