    Hotel Overcharged

Hotel Overcharged 9th Aug 18 at 5:46 PM
Last week I booked a hotel through booking.com for a 3 night stay in Dublin. The total cost was to be 339 however I have just checked my bank today and a few days ago this hotel took 553 out of my account which equates to roughly 621! I called the hotel for an explanation and although they are willing to refund the extra 282 they took from me I have now had missed direct debit payments resulting in late fees charged from my bank and inconvenience with the companies the direct debits are to.
When I told the hotel this they do not seem interested at all and are unwilling to help me in any way although it was their mistake.
Does anyone know what I can do or take it further?

    Thanks

So what have booking.com said? Assuming they're the ones who took the payment.

Generally booking.com don't take payment. You pay at the hotel.

If they won't cover your bank charges you would have to sue them in the Irish courts - I doubt whether it will be worth the effort I'm afraid.

Once they have refunded the difference it's worth contacting your bank they are sometimes understanding about things like this and remove any charges.
